Have not been gigging in over a year - too much day job. But when I do find the time, my rig will look something like this. Few know that the VLT is a full featured audio interface which allows routing mic and guitar in and 1/4 inch to the PA.

Dan,

Looks great! The only thing I'd add is the lyrics on that screen.

Break a Leg Dan!

PS: Is that an Ipad you have BIAB running on?

Hey Dan,

would you be willing to demo that on the next forum skype session? I'd like to see and hear what it can do! Based on the photo, it looks very interesting!

tentative time and date for the next multi-user forum video skype session is the 3rd Sunday in February, which I believe is the 16th. Time would be 7 pm (eastern time)

The reason for waiting until the 16th is that Lloyd is on a cruise, and that's the first weekend after he gets back.

Floyd is going to be so fat when he returns he won't be able to reach his keyboard! Cruises do that to people you know.

Hi Pat, Do you know if it's possible to record a Skype session? It would be great for those of us who are unable to join in.

Good question Keith! I suspect it is possible with screen capture software. But maybe the critical question isn't so much whether or not its possible, as much as whether or not the big ol' dummy Pat can figure out how to do it. wink

I'll look into it... If I can figure it out, we'll go from there.

thanks Mike! That's a good head start!

I'm also looking at Camtasia, but its kind of pricey... the upshot is that I could use it for other things too.

I already have SNAGIT... it can capture the screen, but I'm not sure it can capture the audio too... maybe the audio can be captured separately with Audacity and merged

But I may also try a digital camcorder set to receive its signal from the computer. That's already paid for.... (cheap route first...)

So many ideas, so little money...

I used Camtasia back around 1999-2000. One of the nice things that old version had that I liked is it could render a Shockwave video of the recording that would set up nice as a web page video. I had used it a lot for video tutorials as it shows circles on the screen when you make mouse clicks.

I'm sure by now that it does a lot more cool stuff.

Here is an idea of what I am trying to get the Surface to support. This all works fine on my Desktop DAW for recording (Reaper allows going to a whole new level) and I have had bits of success running it on my laptop for live shows. However the Surface will present "new opportunities for having fun" with BIAB and VLT.

Those old timers here will remember that we have worked a lot with BIAB and VLT over the years. Much of what I have achieved could not have been done without your help and inputs. Maybe this will help get some of the new guys moving in even newer directions.

BIAB and the TC-Helicon Voice Live Touch

By the way, this is Camtasia.

Dan,
that is an awesome demo! Have you posted it in the user to user video section yet? If not, you definitely should!

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
