Hey Greg, agreed on Don Henley. "End of the Innocence" and "Building the Perfect Beast" were my favorites of his.
On the Beast album I really enjoy the lyrics to "Month of Sundays" as it blends to the intro of "Sunset Grill".

Yeah, I love BUILDING THE PERFECT BEAST AS WELL. Month of Sundays is a masterpiece. Also, love the chorus:
I was either standing in your shadow or blocking your light Though I kept on trying I could not make it right For you girl, there's just not enough love in the world
I'm a big Ray Davies fan from way back also
My bank went broke and my well ran dry It was almost enough to contemplate suicide I turned on my gas but then I soon realized I hadn't settled my bill and they cut off my supply
Ray was one of the only rockers who had a lot of great humor and great emotion!

That's called flatulence, Danny. Probably incomplete digestion or an excess of legumes in your diet or quite possibly, an Irishman in your ancesTREE. He'll fall out and swagger home as soon the free drinks run out.

I think it has more to do with the modern diet and the male digestive tract passin' thru the 50th birthday mark. That, and swallowing air when you eat or drink.

That would be a long, long list for me, but these lines grabbed my attention
'I've been singing for my rent and singing for my supper,
I'm above the below, and below the upper' Jody Messina
'There's flies in the kitchen, I can here 'em they're a buzzin' And I ain't done nothin' since I woke up today' J. Prine

Hard to believe the same cat who wrote "wings" also penned "I like Peanut Butter". Later, That's called flatulence, Danny. That's a great line. James Taylor is a genius. Which song is that? I'm a huge fan but don't know that one. Here's a verse by him that I love. I believe the song title is MY TRAVELIN'STAR
My daddy used to ride the rails (so they say, so they say) He was soft as smoke and as tough as nails (box car Jones, old walkin' man) Comin' back home was like goin' to jail Sheets and the blankets, babies and all So he never did come back home, never that I recall
Beautiful writing!! I particularly love the second line

Just trying to bump it back to the top for more input. I enjoy seeing what people like. Here's a great verse by Sting.
Another Winter comes, his icy fingers creep Into these bones of mine, some memories never sleep
GHOST STORY is a beautifully written lyric. If you haven't heard it, you should check it out. Take care. Greg

Yeah, I loved his lyrics from the song below. I put the first few lines of the song in but that whole song had thoughtful lyrics IMHO.
THE POLICE "Synchronicity II"
Another suburban family morning. Grandmother screaming at the wall. We have to shout above the din of our Rice Crispies We can't hear anything at all.

I agree Sting has some very good lyrics.
One that sticks out in my mind is Bowie's Rebel Rebel; The original song said You want more and you want it fast However when live he often substituted You want more than you're wanted for
The latter fits the song better and rhymes.
Another Sting line - There were rooms of forgiveness In the house that we share But the space has been emptied Of whatever was there There were cupboards of patience There were shelfloads of care But whoever came calling Found nobody there
-Consider Me Gone
Make your sound your own! .. I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
