Totally memorable lines...

'Scuse me while I kiss the sky

I'm wasted and I can't find my way home

Marc Bolan of TRex penned some great ones. From 'Bang a Gong (Get It On)'

You're built like a car you got a hubcap diamond star halo
You're built like a car oh yeah

From 'Rabbit Fighter'

Shady politician in my bed
Tying bolts of lightning to his head

Mac,
My wife is now asking me (from the other room) "What's so funny?"
You owe me a new keyboard.. luckily just the qwerty one.

I am also a big fan of Hal David´s lyrics.
In fact I find it very difficult to pick out
any specific line as they are all more or less
great ! So why not take this line from The Look Of Love:

"The look of love is in your eyes
a look your smile can´t disguise"

Now there's a blast from the past. I can remember as a kid hearing that song on the am radio of my folks' Pontiac.

Except wasn't "Something Stupid" kind of creepy in that it was sung by father and daughter?

It makes your skin crawl in that context. It's almost as bad as that infamous "sexy" photo of Miley Cyrus with her dad, Billy Ray Cyrus.

Kinda makes you want to hurl.

Hi, guys !

Funny, but I never thought that those lines
were ment for a father to sing with his daughter ?
I doubt that it was the intention of the lyricists
either ?

Perhaps we shouldn't be trying to read try to read too, too much into lyrics of a song eh?

Let's not get upset about what I'm sure the composer never, ever, ever intended.

Perhaps Frank was thinking about his wife, and Nancy was thinking about her boyfriend. Ain't that possible? No?

I've listened to that tune innocently for all those years, and now in one sentence you've gone and wrecked it on me. Damn!

Dani, you're on the right track.

Loosen up guys...

“Something Stupid” was written by C. Carson Parks and he sang it with his wife Gaile Foote:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Somethin%27_Stupid

Frank and Nancy’s version is the most popular and I doubt very very much that they sang it to each other.

PS -I'm still going to enjoy the song!

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.

Some of my favorites:

If I could only find the words then I would write it all down
If I could only find a voice I would speak

He put the bottle to his head and pulled the trigger

I'll be there for you
These 5 words I say to you
When you breathe I wanna be the air for you

Saying goodbye is never an easy thing
But you never said you'd stay forever

Don't wanna close my eyes
Don't wanna go to sleep
Cuz I'd miss you baby
And I don't wanna miss a thing

(Yes, I love Diane Warren's writing)

I am using the new 1040XTRAEZ form this year. It has just 2 lines.

1. How much did you make in 2023?
2. Send it to us.

From the musical Guys and Dolls
with music and lyrics by Frank Loesser

"More I Cannot Wish You"

But More I Cannot Wish You
Than to wish you find your love
Your own true love this day
With a sheep's eye
And a lickerish tooth
And a strong arms
To carry you away.

I love this tune and
those wonderful lines especially
as sung by the Singers Unlimited:

Reminds me of THAT'S LIFE:

That's life, that's what the people say
Ridin' high in April, shot down in May
But I don't let it, let it get me down
Cause this old world, she keeps spinnin' round

Sung beautifully by Old Blue Eyes, or if you prefer, "The chairman of the board"

Sting is a genius.

Now she is gone, leavin' me too soon
I'm as dark as December, I'm as cold as the man in the moon

That's from MERCURY FALLING. If you haven't heard it (song and the album) you should give it a listen. Awesome!!

How about A HOUSE IS NOT A HOME

I don't remember the exact lyrics but something like:

A chair is still a chair, even when no one's sitting there
But a chair is not a house, and a house is not a home when you're not there

That's the sentiment and logical/emotional flow anyway. Love it!!

She's no doubt brilliant. Diane Warren frequently occupies the small intersection of the sets "good songs" and "popular songs". UNBREAK MY HEART is great, as is IF YOU ASKED ME TO (simple but beautiful sentiment--"all you have to do is ask me too")

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
