Hi folks,

Some of the stuff in realband won't show because of screen resolution, I have it set to 1280x960 and custom text size (DPI) in windows 7 set to 139% which I need for my eyesight.

The main missing icons are,

1 in the mixer the record fader moves (automation) is missing, would have been really handy to have that in the dropdown in the record in the main transport window?

2 the rest checkbox is missing in the notation view, the track name takes up a great deal of space, so just wondering is there another way of adding a rest by clicking with a shortcut?

Would save me having to change screen resolution to do this.

Many thanks
Musiclover

I am not aware of a shortcut key for the rest, but if you cascade the windows, or at least set them as not full screen, you can click-hold the title bar and drag left or right to quickly bring items that are out of scope into view. You should be able to do this for the Mixer Automation also:

Try changing your Windows screen resolution to a higher value that shows the whole thing.

Mac, the O/P mentioned: "I have it set to 1280x960 and custom text size (DPI) in windows 7 set to 139% which I need for my eyesight." (emphasis supplied)

So he probably realizes the cause, but was looking for an alternative workaround.

What I meant was to change that resolution just long enough to enter the needed Rests.

Then switch it back.

Thanks VideoTrack and Mac for your replies, I had tried you suggestion Trevor and just had a go again, whilst I can drag ok for some reason the name of track default untitled just gets longer and longer but no rest box will appear, I think the coding of realband will not allow any further adjustment under my resolution. Was worth a try though thank you. Even using that scroll bar at bottom of notation window dragging from left to right will not brign rest box into view.

I think Macs suggestion is the only way forward for now temporary change of resolution.

I did email support and they replied saying that a lot of customers are having problems not seeing icons, and might be fixed in an update.

Thanks Musiclover

Hi MusicLover

I understood that you wanted help to avoid changing the screen resolution

Please tell me if you can't do the steps below. I did all of this on a laptop with lower resolution that you mentioned - easily. If that doesn't work please let me know so we can assist you further.

Regards

Trevor

Hi VideoTrack,

Thanks for your interest in this, for a start let me give exactly how my display is set in windows 7. I have latest video driver.

Its a 1280x960 resolution and then I right clicked on desktop "personalize" and set the display "set custom text size" to 139% didn't click xp scalling in there.

I have followed your steps and in step 2 and 3 with dragging I am not able to drag past the auto box to right side of track name. The auto box seems as it is the ultimate box that will show, even though the notation windows is furthermost to the left on screen.

Does seem this is as far as I can get with the present settings, maybe if I set the display text size lower it might show, have lowered it to 137% but still same.
Can't really go any lower it gets too small for me to read. It really does seem that the track name in the notation windows at this resolution and scalling at 139% is really large, maybe 4 inches wide on screen (whereas one inch would be enough) therefore leading to the boxes right side of track name, such as rest box not being shown. You can see yourself in screenshot in my last post the size of the track name box, its huge.

All is not lost as I can do notation in biab anyways no problem there, so probably making a big thing of nothing.

I really appreciate the time and screenshots you have taken to help me with this.

Many thanks
Musiclover

Set the the font back to 100% (you can up the resolution also if the zoom works for you), download AutoHotKeyZoom.zip unzip it to your Programs folder then right click on AutoHotKeyZoom.ese or AutoHotKeyZoom64.exe > Create Shorcut, drag shortcut to the Start Button > All Programs > Startup (yellow folder) and then let go.
Run AutoHotKeyZoom(0r64).exe hold the left Shift key and scroll the mouse wheel (you can set the hotkeys to what you like) in the Windows Magnifier (it will be a small magnifying glass on the screen somewhere or minimized) set Views to Full Screen and in setting set steps to 25% for smooth zoom and then Minimize Magnifier.
You can edit the .ahk file by right clicking on the green "H" icon in the taskbar to change hotkeys:

Quote:
; Only one instance running at a time
#SingleInstance force

; Mac-like zooming
~LShift & WheelUp::
sendinput #{NumpadAdd}
return

~LShift & WheelDown::
sendinput #-
return

~LWin & WheelUp::
sendinput #{NumpadAdd}
return

~LWin & WheelDown::
sendinput #-
return

Bigger monitor helps with the eyesight, you can use an LED\LCD TV they work out cheaper than PC Monitors.

Thank you very much Solidrock in taking the time to post that for me.

Its funny really, I am in the strange situation of finding the windows magnifier more of a hindrance than anything else. It must be that my eyesight is not so bad as to use it to that extent.

The eye condition I have is nystagmus, but I would imagine that some of the things I mention on here would also affect a lot of other people with age related failing eyesight.

Another stragne thing as regard monitor size as I like it to be about 4 inches from my eyes is that if you have a large widescreen monitor then you have to keep the whole screen size within range without having to keep turning head from left to right all the time.

I will give that download a try though to see how it goes.

P.S Just tried EyeRelief so far seems a very interesting program and will be helpful to me, thank you very much for that information.
