My goal is to put 10 or 12 songs on a cd and burn some copies. Not necessarily for sale, for friends and family mostly, but perhaps to promote some music too. Is anyone here doing this? If so, can you point me in the right direction?

I have some gear for duplicating, a Gear Head lightscribe capable box that came with Nero. That was a couple of years ago. Been gathering dust since.

I also have the stand-alone T-RackS Classic Suite, which I believe will combine the mastered wav files into a single file which I can then burn to a cd.

I am 'mastering' in Sonar with Isotope's Ozone 5 plug-in now, and exporting cd or mp3 audio files. I don't really plan on doing anything else to those cd ready audio files other than burning them to disc with appropriate spacing.

Learning T-RackS may be all I really need to do at this point, but I'm not really sure about that.

I'll do the necessary research, but I appreciate any advice on getting started.

Thanks.

Your choice of tools should work.

The only difference for me is that for home projects, I use SONY's CD Architect to assemble and burn the tracks to a Red Book-spec CD.

Expect to get a few returns when the CD-R's won't work in someone's older player or car.

I think for very small runs kunaki can do it cheaper than I can do it by myself. I used it for 25 CD's for my wife's piano students -- worked just fine. You still need to create an audio CD -- because you stream/upload the CD itself to kunaki.

Go for it man. I do all of Floyd jane's bootleg CDs on an old computer and a cracked copy of CD Architect. Never had one return. (Of course, I do move around a lot). grin

This is a good opportunity to promote the new Fj "Unauthorized" CD - "Floyd jane - A Man And His Muse"!

Available by mail order, or at various locations on Canal Street in NYC. Ask for "Mr. Chen".

'Now hear this. Florida pirates have taken over this thread.

(A while back Cakewalk offered a freebie, Pyro Audio Creator, which I've been using to rip refence tracks, but it will burn a Disc-At-Once cd too. Amazing what one can find in the Help File. I'll give it a go.)

CDBurnerXP is a great, free burner program that will do Disc-at-once burns. (it will run on new systems - the XP name is a "left-over").

Studio One Pro includes a unique "Project" process to master and burn your project (in case anyone is looking at new DAWs...)

Funny you should mention that. We're mastering Floyd jane's newest bootleg......er....unauthorized CD, and we're going with a pirate theme for the cover! grin

Surely you jest? Cracked software? Isn't that the same as stealing, with a fancy name tacked on it to ease one's conscience?

I've been very happy with Kunaki also. No one's complained yet, and you get a shrink-wrapped jewel case with art work. Much more professional looking than what I can do at home. And if you can wait a week or so, just choose the USPS shipping option and the costs are reasonable. Costs vary depending on the the number of units you buy, but for example, 100 units costs $1.40 per CD plus another $20 to ship USPS. Think about what your time is worth, the cost of materials, quality of output, etc, and $1.60 per CD seems pretty reasonable to me.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
