Hi all,

I was experimenting a little with chord changes. They should all include the notes d, f and a.
I found F69, dm69, B7susb5#9b13, FMaj13, B7susb5#9b13, G13sus, C13sus#5 and finished that with an AMaj7. Then I repeated a fifth higher and added an 8 bar ending.
The melody was rendered only in dm and gm to keep it tonally simple.

RealTracks used:
RealDrums-BossaTerryClarke^9-Cycling
RT464_ Bass, Acoustic, Bossa Ev
RT473_Bass, Acoustic, Soloist Bossa Ev
RT1662_ Piano, Acoustic, Rhythm BossaNY Ev
RT475_Sax, Alto, Bossa Ev
Doubling Vocaloid Avanna

I hope you enjoy.

Yes this does have a nice groove to it. You did a really nice job of getting all these chords to blend so well together. Don’t you love that BiaB can let you experiment like this?

I think you did a really good job with the leads also. FWIW I would have used a more busy progressive jazz lead to compliment those chords but that is just me and others will probably not agree.

However this is a good song as it stands right now.

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.

Hi Guenter,

We always love it when folks experiment "outside the box". That's how we came up with some of our "off the wall" stuff. Very creative and a wonderful listen. Loved the acoustic bass solo. great composition and mix! Good stuff, for sure! And, like Mario said, BIAB allows us so much space to do almost anything we want .. love it!

Guenter, A lot going on here. I especially liked the doubling with the vocaloid and the bass. Somehow all these chords work together. Nice experiment that is a success. Tom

Very cool music! I too feel that this would be great soundtrack music. I could imagine a couple in a convertible driving along a scenic road in a romantic film. Very enjoyable listen. Take care. Greg

Guenter,

Very cinematic. It moves and moves you along with it.

Avanna sounded very human in this - as though she were just casually humming along with the music. That was very cool. It also reminded me of Janice scatting on my tune. Very natural sounding...

Kind of beat-nik cool...

Hi Guenter.

How you do all this I will never know!! I would not know know how to start. Very impressive. As mentioned this could easily be a sound track for a movie or TV.
Regards

Guenter,

the recurring theme in your work (as I see it) is that you are a conceptual composer. You start with a seed idea, then develop that idea by casting seeds all over the place, then waiting to see what takes root.

In the end I'd guess that you keep what is tasty, and discard any growth that didn't bear pleasant fruit.

Most other composers (again, as I see it) start with something that sounds pleasing, and develop that into a fully expanded song.

Both approaches work, but your approach offers enough garden space for the idea to vine all over the place and take root in unexpected ways. This type of creativity, by its very nature, lets your songs develop without getting influenced by (or driven by) trends.

For that reason EVERYTHING you do sounds fresh and totally innovative to my ears.

I appreciate that since I am rather simple myself:)

There are some folks here who absolutely floor me with their musical creativity and skill. You are among them of course.

Full sound on this, the ensemble really got into it. Excellent production.

Aavanna has morphed into a human! Amazing. And hey, as a bass player, I'm very excited to hear a bass solo. Creativity abounds here with the arrangement, RT choice and a mix to admire. Like Pat said "fresh and innovative." It sounds fabulous on my KRK monitors!!

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
