This Southern Rocker features two complete drum kits panned a little left and right. Thanks to Bud Merritt for help with the lyrics and thanks to Janice for the backup vocals. Comments/suggestions welcomed as always.

Georgia Jury

I remember it all like it was yesterday

everybody started to run

Shots rang out one man down

I had to get rid of the gun

I don't know if he deserved what he got

blood runs thicker than water

We stick together no matter what

It was passed down from our father

CHORUS
In the face of a Georgia Jury

i had to tell a terrible lie

And swear that my brother didn’t kill that man

No need to have another man die

Live this life with No regrets

That’s how it’s gonna be

Did you bring me any more Cigarettes

Was the only thing he asked of me

Telling my lie may be as big a sin

The bible says an eye for an eye

Ain't no man worth turning on kin

We can’t go back and change that night

CHORUS

Tom and Bud (and Janice),

Good write, guys. Very Southern-rocker of you...

Great treatment. The guitars all sound good. So, did you have to line the snares and kicks up with each other? Great mix. Sounds like it is supposed to - we've come to expect that from you.

Super leads. Your experience shows...

Cool backgrounds... Oooooooo....

Very enjoyable.

Wonderful theme guys and Gal!

I could here everything and it's placement very well.

Anything south of the Mason–Dixon line gets us Yankee's in trouble, specially down there with them Georgia Peaches:)

Keep-in it real!

Up here we got a saying! "We'll turn the light off for you watch them stairs bud."

Hi Tom (Janice & Bud),

that piece really rocks. I wonder how you get these
drums synced so nicely.
Great guitar and (backing) vocals.
Totally enjoyed this.

Very cool tune. Love the driving beat to it. Kind of reminiscent of a band up here in Canada called "Bachman Turner Overdrive (BTO)....Well done

Floyd and Guenter , thanks for the kind words. No big secrets re the drums. I just kept looking until I found one that went with the Texas kit. The only difference was the LA kit the kick was on the 1 and on the - and3 , while the Texas kit was on the 1 and the 3. It sounded very muddled until I figured out the EQ on each , both sound very different individually. It was also critical to not pan them much. I think they ended up at 9. Biab did all the work as far as syncing. Thanks again, Tom

DA, thanks man. No worries I always have a flashlight close at hand.

Scott, I used to play TCB in a band. BTO definitely had that driving sound. They must have been from Southern Canada. Thanks for checking in on this one. Tom

Tom, Janice & Bud ...

As always from you folks - a killer song!Sounds like a mix of BTO and very Early Lynyrd Skynyrd. Still trying to get my foot settled down! Terrific job with the two drum tracks! Great vocals and delivery as well as everything else. The only thing we didn't like about it was ... it finally ended! Kudos to the three of you!

Hi Tom, Bud and Janice

Great track! Loved the guitar and the drums. As Floyd says your experience certainly shows through on this. Good job on the backing vocals from Janice as well.

Nice guitar playing.

That's a rocker that chuggs along nicely.

Oh yeah!! Applause!!

So, can I start using your recordings as reference mixes?

Excellent production and song.

Full southern rock sound, driving guitar from the opening note, sweet licks, your vocals are tight, the background vocals are fantastic, love the 'Oooos'.

Love this style of music and this is a great example. Like the drama in the lyrics and the way the chorus steps it up a bit. Very well done. Now where are my old charlie daniels records. Cheers.

Greg, thanks for the kind words about the guitar work.

Scott, Thanks for listening and commenting. This mixing and mastering process is an ongoing learning experience for us all.

Charlie, Thanks for the nice comments . Bud was a great help with the lyrics. He has a great knack for adding just the right lines to pull everything together.

Rich, CDB is one of my favorites. He's still out there tearing it up. Thanks for listening. Tom

User Tip: How to add drum fills without changing any other tracks

MarioD has shared some great advice when it comes to adding drum fills without changing any other tracks in your song:

There have been a number of questions asking how to add drum fills without changing any other tracks in a song. This is especially important if one is holding a chord for a few measures and wants to add a drum fill prior to the next chord. The following is how to accomplish that:

1-get the instruments/tracks to play like you want but don't worry about the drums for now.
2-generate the song.
3-freeze all tracks
4-unfreeze the drum track
5-add your fills where you want them
6-generated the song again - note this will only generate the drum track and not the frozen tracks
7- when you get the drums like you want them freeze the track
