Hello ladies and germs - uh hmmm - gentlemen! Dani and I now take you back to the bygone days of big band jazzy swing with our rendition of this little ditty from the public domain - originally written in 1921 (m.)Richard A. Whiting,(l.) Raymond B. Egan and Gus Kahn.

Dani, did the BIAB file using the style Bigband1. I added a jazz acoustic bass RT, put trumpet, fr horn and trombone as separate ensembles through Miroslav, the piano through HiQ midi in Sampletank using RB and added the female vox. I don't use midi much so it was fun using Miroslav and Sampetank. Dani added his cool voice and harmonies for the male part recorded in Mixcraft. I usually use Reaper but since there was no extensive editing the tracks were mixed in MIxbus. We had fun. Hope you get a kick out of it too.

Josie and Dani,

You do, indeed! (have fun, that is)...

Very nicely put together - sounds like a lot of work went into this one! Good instrumentation and a solid mix. Solid vocals and harmonies throughout.

Well done. Great collab.

Very cool, smooth and pleasant arrangement. My first exposure to music was the big band 78's my family played....so I'm much digging this. And Janice wants me to mention how often she listens to all the 30's/40's big bands. And she does!

The time y'all spent on this is obvious and, most importantly, it worked....and worked very well!!

The idea, the vocals, the arrangement and the mix are all spot on for the style. Kudos!!

Floyd, Thank you kind sir. smile We appreciate it.

Dani, You are delightful. Thanks for everything and capturing the spirit.

Janice and Bud, Thank you both. Isn't it great we grew up with so much exposure to all kinds of music.... Kind of sad so many kids today don't have that.

Greg, We thank you very much.

Charlie, We appreciate that.

Gruverider, A smile is what we hoped for - thank you.

Very enjoyable recreation of the sound and style from that era. I'm sure it was in some matinee movie that we kids tried to imitate. Fun. Thanks.

Josie and Dani, Ain't these collabs fun? Great job on the mix and vocals are spot on. Josie your voice translates perfectly to the sentiment of the song. Nice job. I've always liked the melody. I wonder if the younger generations even know what 78's are? Tom

Josie and Dani,

While this is a great effort from both of you I am blown away by you Josie and your grasp on the swing/jazz vocal.

I guess I never heard you sing anything but pop, country and some folk and don't get me wrong you do these well. But you nailed this swing tune lady, I hope this means you might be doing more songs from this genre?

Congrats to both of you guys on a job well done.

That's a nice big band arrangement, definitely has that feeling.
We also like Dani´s vocal harmonies. Were these all separate singing lines, or did he use a vocal harmonizer ? (like the one in BIAB).

Keep up the good work!

Hi R&AM !

We thank you so much for
your kind comments !
I´ll answer you as I sung the
harmony lines ! I just improvised
them and sent them as a whole
track to Josie for mixing in with
the main track ! No artificial
voices used !:))

Josie: after your nudging everything
sounds just great !:))

Cheers
Dani

Danny C.,

I appreciate that very much. I enjoy singing in different styles. As for more of the genre who knows. Got new original songs in the works I'm working on now but never say never.

It amazes me that because of this forum I can have fun doing a duet with someone across the globe as talented as Dani. Gotta love it.

Thank you,

Josie

R & Am,

I know Dani already thanked you but I just wanted to add -

For me, as a harmony junkie, it was a real treat having Dani's wonderful voice singing those complex harmony chords and making it sound so effortlessly.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
