Spent ages working on a new improved version of this, it's from my FAWM, but didn't like it as much as the quick demo which is here. Oh well. Photo is cousin Wally.

https://soundcloud.com/tuigorge/fawm-no8-ratbag-rap

Uses BLUGRSF style which is

Bass RT 427
Banjo RT 426
Guitar RT 431
Fiddle RT 428
Added RD Blues Rock

You stop at the lights, hear boomf, boomf, booomf, coming from somewhere, look around. Kid in his car, hat on backwards, gives you a sharktooth smile, maybe the finger, rumbles off down the road. That's where the song starts.

RatBag Rap

Heading for my local country gig.
Shaken by some rapper's ratty rig
Boomin sound is all around
Seems to come up thru the ground
It's enough to make a grown man cry
shake a fist at an empty sky

My rattling brain moves slowly on again
I'm set up soon ready to perform
Band starts up again plays Wheels
Singers sing same old deal
My mind keeps wandering it's insane
Ratbag Rap's lodged in my brain

Ratbag Rap and it's got me beat
Keep hearin it in my sleep
Why oh why's it picked on me
RatBag Rap please let me be

Up to the mike to sing my nervous song
Sweet melody that all goes wrong
Sweat breks out then I'm shakin
Anyone can see I aint faking
Voice goes flat pull down my hat
I start rappin do the Ratbag Rap

Hit my stride try to do my thing
Just keep talkin cause I sure cant sing.
Then the people clap politely
Shakin their heads mumblin quietly.
I just keep playin simple country bass
every now and then theres a smile on my face.

Ratbag Rap and it's got me beat
Keep hearin it in my sleep
Why oh why's it picked on me
RatBag Rap please let me be

The president he comes my way
Says thanks so much for comin in today
We appreciate your playing sure is nice
Heard your song once don't need it twice.
Please hit the road and don't come back
We've had enough of that Ratbag Rap.

Ratbag Rap and it's got me beat
Keep hearin it in my sleep
Why oh why's it picked on me
RatBag Rap please let me be

The people cant swaller it the band cant foller it
That RatBag RatBag RatBag Rap

Any and all comments welcome.

I love this! As I guy who can't stand rap (sorry to any rap fans), I really appreciate the sentiment. A fun and clever listen! Take care. Greg

Very Clever!!! Bluegrass rap.

"The people cant swaller it the band cant foller it
That RatBag RatBag RatBag Rap"

So a kid's listening to his dad's music and says "dad, I don't understand that music....his voice keeps moving all around." And dad replies, "son, it's called a melody."

That summarizes my rap feelings smile

Well, this is certainly different! But it's clever and funny with some, for sure, memorable lines. I'm gonna pass this one around. Cool production.

Hello Greg. Glad you enjoyed this bit of fun. ( grain of truth in there also ). Cheers.

Thanks Olemon. Glad I suprised you. We certainly get some variety on this station. Cheers

Thanks Charlie. Hope it made you smile. Cheers.

Thanks Dani. Your comments are a tonic. Keep smiling. Cheers.

Hi Floyd. Unfortunately it's only slightly exaggerated. Such is life. Do enjoy bluegrass rap and theres quite a bit about. Can't understand the words though. Cheers.

Janice and Bud. Thanks for the great comments. Add melody to rap and I guess you have a song. Would like to find a spot somewhere between singing and rapping to feel comfortable in. Cheers.

Thanks Gruverider. Fun and joy is definitely the aim of the game. Cheers.

Richard, Now that's funny! I wasn't expecting bluegrass rap. I guess rap is seeping in everywhere. I used to absolutely hate it, but I have to admit I am beginning to like some of it. Thanks for giving me a smile. Tom

Thanks for the listen and the comments Tom. I have liked it since first hearing the theme for Justified by Gangstagrass on TV a few years ago. Cheers.

Country folk invented rap.... but it was "calling the square dance" back then.

Interesting tune

LOL! I love it Rich. Great job.

It really does feel like it's coming from the ground when they come down my street and rattle my windows....

Thanks for listening Josie. I enjoy your lighthearted comments! Cheers.

Hi Mike. A bit of fun. That's the thing about FAWM. No time to overthink anything. Just churn something out. Cheers.

Hi Guenter. Wally is a real character and has always been one of my favourite people. We had lots of fun boozing when we were younger. Caught him nicely with that photo. Cheers.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
