Hello fellow Band in a Boxers: Here is another new tune-not sure if I'll re-record or just remix but needs a few tweaks (at least). This song was inspired by the Irish folk waltz or something like that title. I loved the acoustic guitar and the Irish vibe. I believe almost all song topics have been written. We all write about the same things, except maybe Steely Dan who always have a unique perspective-Black Friday (about a stock market crash), Chained Lightning (the Nazis), Katy Lied (addiction). Anyway, I realized tonite that this is my version of End of the Innocence by Don Henley (one of the best in my view). "Somewhere back there in the dust, that same small town in each of us". This is about the "small town" in me-maybe just about the past.
On another topic, I have had issues with a static kind of sound and popping on playback with Pro Tools. Any advice on how to correct it (and maintain what's left of my sanity) would be much appreciated. Take care. Greg

P.S. Will post lyrics and other details soon.

Hi there Greg,

Beautiful song, well written, and a good vocal.
I love that guitar picking real track, it's the same one we used on our Three Minute Waltz.
Speaking of Don Henley, I love this song: The Heart of the Matter (unplugged version). I believe it is from the same album?

Regards,
Rob

Beautiful song Greg. Sounds great.

I don't use Pro Tools but in most DAWs if you have pops and crackles check your buffer settings - higher usually works best so I'd try that first but sometimes lower does. You'll have to experiment until you find the perfect setting for your (soundcard)interface.

That was really nice. Haunting. Reminds me of the vibe of the tunes in Ken Burns Civil War series. Beautiful tune

Pretty, reflective song. Your singing reminds me of Sting's Field of Gold (?).

Hey, let us know which real tracks/percussion you used -- I want to use them all on one of my as yet unwritten songs!

Nice vocals and song construction, it all fits together. It is my belief, unsupported by any logic at all, that if you have full instrumentation in a song, you also need backing vocals here and there (even if just oohs and aahhs). That's my story and I am sticking with it.

Good stuff, thanks for sharing.

Another fine production Greg. You have a consistency that I
much admire with the inventiveness of your lyrics...and this
song is no exception. It's most been said above.

I think the strongest aspect of your music is that your
voice works so well with your lyrics. A good voice and
a good lyric does not always equal a great production but
you have that ability to make them work together exceptionally
well.

Another good one!!

Thanks so much Bob, Guenter, and Trevor for you kind words.

THanks Rob. Yes, you are right, The Heart of the Matter is on the same CD. I believe there is a very small intersection of what it good and what is popular, and that song (along with some of Don's other work) occupy that space. I am a huge fan of his.

Take care. Greg

THanks for the nice compliment Floyd. I'm really glad you liked that lyric. I was questioning if it was too abstract or unclear. It was great to have validation on that.

Thanks Charlie and Dani. Very much appreciate your comments.

Thanks for the encouragement Tom. Looking forward to listening to your new one within the next few hours!

Take care all, Greg

Josie, Thanks for the nice words. Good to hear from you again. Thanks for the advice on the static-I'll try it!

Richmac, Thanks for the compliment. I always enjoy your interesting and truly creative lyrics. Much appreciate your support

Patrick, Thanks for the compliment. I'm not familiar with the Civil War series but will have to google it.

Take care all! Greg
