Anybody get BIAB 2011 to send its ASIO output via ReaRoute over to Reaper?
I can get every other application that can use ASIO to also use ReaRoute, just not BIAB

Note when you install Reaper, expand "Additional Functionality" and select "ReaRoute ASIO Driver"
This will give you virtual cables via ASIO to/from Reaper.

You'll see ReaRoute ASIO as one of the ASIO choices for all your applications that can talk to ASIO

Thanks in advance,

Rain,

I am not familiar with the ASIO re-route, but you should be able to "drag-n-drop" your instruments from Biab directly into Reaper. I believe both midi and Real Track instruments can be done that way.

Hi Thanks Trax, but what I'm looking to do is actually conduct BIAB live and have some post processing through Reaper.

I have some "Waves" plugins, they don't work in BIAB probably because Waves wraps them in some fancy shell. They work fine in Reaper.

I can take an external audio cable and loop it out one audio and in another.
I was hoping to do it through ReaRoute because it's clean and fast.

Do you see re-route in the list of available ASIO drivers in BIAB?

Hi, Yes Silvertones, it's there and I can select it. To which I get a quick blip in reaper.

But it doesn't send audio. It works fine from other apps, Realband 2011 (2) works fine.

Thanks,

Glad to hear Realband handles reroute, very cool.

Maybe you could use RB instead? It is more of a DAW program and does most of what BiaB can do, just does it a little differently.

Otherwise, I wonder if it is a problem with using ASIO in both programs at once (?)
Is it available as MME driver?

Well, can't use RB live.
You can't change tempo in realtime.
BAIB I can bump up or down the tempo, within reasonable limits, live.
Can't do that in RB

Looks like I'm stuck with an external cable loopback for BIAB to talk to Reaper.

Hello,

"Looks like I'm stuck with an external cable loopback for BIAB to talk to Reaper"

Is this still the way to do it today, to get BIAB to play live into Reaper?

I would rather not waste physical inputs if I can route it with software.

Thanks

I "may" have an answer, but will cost you $29...
Virtual Audio Streaming by DDMF, European I think.

Anyway, I needed to do same on different application.
My Studio 17 video editor does 1920 x 1080 screen capture.
And it will also do physical recording at same time via hardware audio inputs.

I downloaded the free test to make sure it would work.
Fantastic it was and is. The Free version does insert some noise here and there
but will allow you to test it.
http://www.virtualaudiostream.com/

Satisfied my requirements for now.
It also allows insertion of VST in the audio path.

It creates 4 new inputs, and 4 new outputs that are displayed in my Win 7 Audio window.
You select it same as mike, or other audio's.
https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=ddmf+audio Plethora of YT goodies on it.

The $29 paid for my single need(want), but now will probably use elsewhere.

I have not taken any Campaign donations, or other money transfers for this product.

Just think its cool and solved a problem for me.

Always go back and re-read a request.... To my knowledge think you will get only a single
stereo BIAB output to your Speakers/Headphones. Of course VAS allows rerouting.

pwarren, a member here, wrote software for routing MIDI in BB I think.
Let me see if I can find a link to the thread.
.. heads over to search (which I no longer like in this forum; it has changed).

Ahh, here it is; allows sending certain channels to certain ports ..

http://www.pgmusic.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=191647&page=4

(if I understood the thread correctly, I haven't tried it yet. Instead I move to RB when I need multiple synth sources. 32 of them available there.

It's a shame that Rewire has yet to be implemented in BIAB, RB, and PTPA. It's a mature, stable utility that is incorporated into most major DAWs and ancillary software. As the majority of users here seem to use non-PG DAWs at least some of the time, having the ability to stream dozens of channels of audio and MIDI data between two given programs while controlling them with a single transport would be a huge advantage, virtually eliminating the need for drag and drop. If it is not a priority now, I urge Dr. Gannon and the developers to have another look. (I know they did some years ago.) There's nothing sexy about Rewire, but it would be a major enhancement to the workflow of PG's devoted users.

Hope this isn't too much off topic. I am a big BIAB\Reaper user.

Since BIAB 2014 was released I have noticed that the transfer of tracks from BIAB to Reaper (drag and drop) has been a little dicey? Meaning it still works, but often BIAB will appear to get stuck after the process and sometimes it tries to duplicate what is being transferred. You know, dicey. Any one else.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
