Hi everyone, This week's song is about the man, kicked out of a bar, frustrated about his wife and kid having left him the woman, who can't get the whole thing out of her mind and wonders..... Anyway it comes down Style is _CLTARPG.STY User track: Guitar, Classical, Fingerpicking Waltz, 12-8 unchained melody, Hezy Levy Ev 8 070 Real tracks: 2337:Violin, Background, PopHigh Ev 085 (1TrackStringSection) 2338:Violin, Background, PopLow Ev 085 (1TrackStringSection) Soloist: 1286, Guitar Electric, Soloist Country Waltz, Brent SW 085 Anyway it comes down Do you ever think about wandering away Like some cityboy does, as he sleeps all day And then the man comes down, in the middle of the street Loosing his touch with this world of which he knows so much Although it's been indoors And then the pain will show, there's no place to go A rub in the eye or a reason to fly Anyway it comes down it seems silly to me A knock on the door, he said give me some more Otherwise you know it means nothing to me You know it's nothing to me The woman in the store just standing there Looking for the kid she's lost somewhere and as it finally shows, it's got no place to go The reasons why he left were well described But her pain inside somehow seems denied (And) so she's moving on trying hard to forget A rub in the eye or a reason to fly Anyway it came down it seemed silly to her A knock on the door, he said give me some more Otherwise you know it means nothing to me You know it's nothing to me I know it's been a long time ago And I won't run away from all the things I know Still there seems to be, little hope for me to go on Anne-Marie

R & AM, Really creative video and song. Nice poetic lyrics- " A rub in the eye or a reason to fly". The best thing about this whole thing is the user tracks, they sound great. I never would have thought to use them. You just opened another door for me. Thanks, Tom

Very nicely done!! Love the sparse arrangement-very haunting. I hear a little Leonard Cohen in this. Great all the way around (vocals, arrangement, production) as usual!! Take care. Greg

Rob and Anne-Marie,
All your stuff is good. This might be my favorite so far.
A very nice production. Hezy's nylon RT sounds great! I am not sure I heard Rodney's. I tried to use his once without success. He did some amazing guitar work for a couple of my songs, so I really wanted his UserTrack to work... Anyway... Super production on this.
And your vocals sound awesome! (Have you changed something?) They are so clear and present! Beautiful.
The song sounds like something from the best that Broadway has to offer. Very theatrical. (Actually BETTER than what I've heard lately from Broadway).
Anne-Marie, your harmonies on this are PERFECT. Strong.
Nice!

Hi Floyd, Thank you! And.... you are right! About Rodney's usertrack not being there.... it isn't. Rob made a mistake He was very busy this week re-installing his entire Windows and other software, so he kinda mixed things up. WE EDITED THE POST! And about the presence of the vocals: well, the basis of the song is just the Spanish guitar which leaves much room for the vocals. Besides that, we remastered the arrangement with the z3ta synthesizer, works great for mastering purposes too. Regards, Anne-Marie

Rob and Anne-Marie,
This is just really good stuff! I agree with Floyd, I think this one may be my favorite of yours that I have heard so far. Great song, and very well sung! Glad I got to hear it!

Hi Anne-Marie & Rob ...
This is, indeed, our favorite song by you two. So crisp and clear ... the mastering is about as close to perfect as I could imagine.
It's a really great song and you guys did such a marvelous job on it! This is top-shelf all the way! Di and I are standing and applauding! This is top shelf all the way!
Alan & Di

Hey... that was pretty innovative.
Yup... definitely liked it.

We are big fans of introspective writes that are not angst ridden or maudlin. This one is IMO as good as it gets.
Great vid and vocals ice the lyric cake.
One of your top three in my book.
Enjoyed it.

This is a lovely song with great production and something of a Broadway feel. I love the unexpected leap that the melody takes starting the chorus, and the selective use of harmonies as a special texture element. A lot of cool visual elements in the video too. Everything works! Nice.
Thanks for sharing! Bruce

Hello Janice & Bud,
Thank you! Introspective it is in a way. That's the kind of writing I usually do. I'm pretty much unable to write "direct" lyrics ;-) I usually start out with humming whatever word comes into mind (unconsciously) on an existing arrangement. Sometimes it makes sense, sometimes it's total cr**p. One of the advantages here is that the words that Do make sense also suit the songs rhythm. I also like to write from several perspectives. In this case, in this song, there are three different perspectives: me (the city boy who sleeps all day) the man (the man that comes down in the middle of the street) the woman (in the store)
These perspectives were sheer coincidence. When I wrote this song I was looking for words that sounded "good", ha ha. It wouldn't be the first time that I found out, only months later, what my song was really about. The unconscious brain can be pretty powerful in songwriting.
Anyway, thanks again for your loyal support. It's always appreciated!
Regards, Rob

Hello Bruce,
Thank you! The initial arrangement of this song had three more real tracks. We incidentally muted them in Cubase, but we suddenly realized the result was much more "intimate", also the effect of the backing vocals was much more prominent this way. So we decided to keep it like this.
Regards, Rob
