Come across this program called Audio Record Wizard. It looks very useful for recording those bits of inspiration that are before or after BAIB/REALBAND/Your favourite sequencer is running. You know what I mean, when it suddenly starts to flow but you have not got your set up running.

Basically, it records whatever is coming in through an audio source, in this case my piano.

Every time I go to my piano it records it, if there is silence for a specified time it stops recording, if the sound starts again it either continues recording or if you wish starts a new file.

The files can be either wav Mp3 or other formats. There is a setting to vary the

There is a free version limited to 3 minutes per recording, but I have just bought the full package for $25

Its not really a full blown music app, but what I can do is record my practice ALL the time and if a stroke of genius comes my way, its easy to import it into a full sequencer

Its early days for me but it should work fine, though others might be interested.

One thing it could not do is use other than stereo 1&2 for input, so I had to rejig my system so as the piano came in through the first and second inputs. It seems the sound settings cannot select other channels. You also have to set the thing rolling - just the once - at computer start up, from then on it can record every input on the first stereo pair and cease the recording automatically after a user specified number of silent seconds, then record again when a fresh song is played.

I love it

Zero, there are a couple of VST plugins that do this, and some hosts now have this built in. The one I have used is called pre-roll recorder http://www.kvraudio.com/product/preroll_recorder_by_benedict_roff_marsh

It used to be a freebie from what I recall. I see it's 10$ now.

I can't remember the others - I actually just got in the habit of recording often and then erasing the bits I didn't like - kind of cheating.

Interesting RockStarN. I could not get to it here, the website seems defunct. Its interesting to me that some hosts do it. I use Cubase and that could be useful I think there is something called pre-record in Cubase, a setting somewhere, my point though is that I don't have to load a heavyweight program I can leave Cubase (or RealBand) sitting dormant occupying no RAM or CPU, then simply drag in the clip if I want it.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
