Rob and Anne-Marie,

I was into the early songs of Bowie before Ziggy Stardust.
I heard "memory of a free festival" in the early '70's and that started me being influenced by him.

I only play 12 string acoustic ever since I got this one in 1972/3. Glad you liked it.

Alyn,

The whole time I was listening, I kept thinking "that sounds like somebody famous... but who...?"
So my main question is this: "how did you convince Cat Stevens to come over and sit in on your recording session?"

Put my name of the list of people who liked the interesting chord progression! That's something I always listen for in showcase songs.

Interesting use of environmental lyrics captured as random people pass by. I bet there's more of that in songs than we normally realize.

I also really enjoy hearing your accent as you sing. With some people, singing just comes out differently than speaking, and regional accents don't pass thru the filter. Yours does, and I like the effect.

Good project Alyn! Keep 'em coming!

Hi Alyn,

a very personal song and a personal accent.
I like both plus your 12 string guitar.

Tommy,

AARGH!! Where did my reply to you go??
Thanks for listening and your comments.

AT that time in my life I tried to intentionally throw in strange chord relationships (that sounds grand!)Glad this effort worked!! BIAB has given more ways now!!

All the best,

Pat,

Hmm Cat Stevens, thank you. I wish I could write like he does.

As I said to Tom I was in a phase of strange progressions. Glad you liked it!

"environmental lyrics" brilliant!! I have written an environmental song YAY!

Someone once said I speak with a tune rather than sing so they were right!!

thanks for listening

Guenter,

Thank you so much for those nice comments.

It was actually an 11 string as I broke the top E and didn't have a spare!!!

Alyn,

There's that unique voice. I can identify you in three notes, which is a lot more than I can say for all the musical clones in this world. Good lyrics that tell a story. I enjoyed this one a great deal.

Alyn this is your best to date IMHO.

12 string guitars are great are they not? I love that sound. You vocals were super here and I liked your harmonies as well. That chord progression was super, as was the mix.

You should be very proud of this one.

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.
Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.

Bob,

Thanks for commenting, I have always loved the sound of a 12 string ever since I heard The Byrds and an Aussie Group, The Seekers, when I was a child in the 60's.

take care,

Dean,

What can I say, praise coming from a musician like you is praise indeed, thank you.
I dislike musical clones, if you can't be original why bother, is my opinion!!!

"I enjoyed this one a great deal."

Thank you,

All the best, I look forward to your next masterpiece.

Mario,

12 strings are GRRRREAT!
I restring mine with the octave strings of the pair first, in a downward strum direction, E A D and then unison on G B E.

Thank you, I am humbled by your comments, coming from a great musician as yourself.

Loved The Seekers too. Here's another 12-string song that I've always loved:

Bob,

We had the Crispian St Peter's version here in the UK. A man who said he was a better song writer than the Beatles if I remember correctly, yup laugh.

In the video the rhythm guitarist on the ES335 looks like me in those days blush but a bit thinner.

I always wanted a Riki 12 but ended up with an Epiphone double neck, a bit like Charlie (C_fogle)'s avatar.

Nice seeing Fred Astaire in the video, another of my early heroes!

My 11 string is now back to 12 after a quick visit to the shops!

Bob,

I remember the Framus 12 str, never played on tho'. There's a replacement window firm in town called Framous, the owner is a drummer but a great bloke all the same grin laugh

I jokingly tried to register Crane's Disease as a certifiable disease many years ago, but failed. It was published in a minor medical magazine tho' so nearly there LOL. Symptoms: The inability to walk past a musical instrument shop without going in and wanting/buying some musical goodies. Named after a local instrument emporium Cranes Music in Cardiff, Wales. Similar to GAS

Sadly there is a large chasm between wanting and being able to afford cry
