Just getting older... Lyrics and music: Fred Marien
Here in my hands I am holding the means to express myself to you, to tell about my dreams Oh you know I would love to be there looking you in the eye
It's so hard to write down all the words into verses but when I 'm with you I don't need to rehearse then the words just come out and it's strange how they all seem to rhyme
Will you be there, when I come over there's so much outside, we should discover Years that I've lost, just getting older Oh how I miss your head on my shoulder
Where are the times that I finally gave in to the feeling inside and the fact that I need you the pressure was gone once I knew it is you that I want
Will you be there, when I come over there's so much outside, we would discover Years that I've lost, just getting older Oh how I miss your head on my shoulder
Ooh I need you I want to be with you Now you finally, are inside
Little girl, then a lovely woman exact the illusion that I ran away from I know I lost the race but I really don't think I do mind
You will be there, when I come over there's so much outside, we will discover Years that I've lost, just getting older Oh how I miss your head on my shoulder

Great tune!! Very melodic and pleasant. Somewhere between CSN and the Beatles-a great place to be. Really nice work! Take care. Greg

That certainly leans to Crosby Stills and Nash. The drums are perfect The vocals are lovely
I really enjoyed that

I'm on board with the CSNY feel. I was a big fan in their less pompous early years. Fine vocals here.
Kudos.

A very enjoyable listen, Fred. A good mix. Very nice vocals. You sing "like an American" - what's up with that? floyd

This is a very nice song, good melody, choice of instruments and I really enjoyed your vocals. You are a comfortable fit in this style song. Hope to hear more from you soon.

Hi Fred.
OUTSTANDING.
Loved the whole thing.
I agree with the Crosby-Stills-Nash references, with maybe a bit of Garfunkel thrown in.
A VERY professional package all round.
ROG.

Excellent song. I am hearing a little Moody Blues in the song. Singing, playing, lyrics = well done

ROG. I agree 100%. This sounds like it came from Garfunkel's 'Breakaway' album and that is one of my favorite albums. This is a keeper.
Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up. Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.

This is just really nice. Is that your voice doing all the parts? I love that they are soft, but not too breathy, not forced, just letting the chords do the work. This could be a Graham Nash or a Justin Hayward tune - a great mash-up in my opinion, CSN and Moody Blues.
I believe I will have another listen and add it to SC faves! Great work.
Cheers, Bruce

Hello everyone, In September I decided to study jazz at the local music academy. I played guitar since I was 17, intuitively. Stopped playing gigs since 1987. At the academy we practice with BIAB, and there I saw the possibilities of this wonderful software to perhaps finally record the old stuff, to leave something to the grandchildren . So I purchased the 2014 version (2015 followed already ), you folks were the tryout croud, and the rest of the story you all know. You are a wonderful audience, open minded, always positively reinforcing and I thank you for that. Pat Marr, your words about the dog and the hoop are very true. For this song there were comparisons with CSN, Beatles,Moody Blues, Garfunkel... I stand very, very humble in their company. Listening to the standard of production on this forum I feel pretty small pretty often too. Thank you all for taking time to listen. For any composer,I think it's essential to have folks to listen to his or hers production, like a painter can put his or hers pictures at an exhibition. That's what creative expression is all about. I will do my best to listen, and comment to my ability, as much as possible, to your compositions. So on to the next song, and I think that one will rock !!!!
@Bruce Vocals are doubled (2tracks) L&R panned 40% Backing doubled L&R panned 75% EZmix did the job in the mix :-)
Grtz to you all ! F

FredM,
Neat song. Definitely a Moody Blues and Art Garfunkel vibe. Also kinda' like one of my all time favorite groups, Matthews Southern Comfort. (Trust me, that's a great compliment!) Enjoyable and interesting mix. Did you record one guitar part to follow your voice or is that "just" great track editing?

Guitar is doubled fingerpicking "dust in the wind" - like. Got lucky with the track editing I guess :-) Going to look up Matthews Southern Comfort :-) Grtz Fred
