A song about immigration. It's about the Irish immigration, but it's extremely relevant even today. I live in Italy and this is a reality we have to face almost everyday. https://soundcloud.com/alfredo-de-pietra/taking-us-over-to-the-other-sideTaking Us Over to the Other Side Words & Music: James Higgins; arrangement: Alfredo De Pietra, various BIAB Celtic RealTracks) there's a boat that's sailing on the morning tide and it's hold is deep and it's deck is wide and it's taking us to the other side i just hope to god that we all survive and it's taking us over to the other side well we've paid the piper and the captain too and we're sharing quarters with the cabin crew and we'll step on shore in a week or two if we don't drop dead with the spanish flu and it's taking us over to the other side where all men are equal in the eyes of god where men are free to live their dreams a place where we can live in peace where we can hold our heads up high and it's taking us over to the other side well we're crosing over the deep blue sea and the fog's so thick that i cannot see and i'm stood in bilge up to my knees and i hope to god that we'll soon be free

The music puts me in mind of Kansas, the lyrics to either Gordon Lighfoot or Neil Young. Great vocal performance and mix thanks for sharing!

Hi, Alfstone !:))
I like your tune and your voice and the way you are singing this tune that rings with emotion coming out of the serious situation you are singing about ! You do not by accident know my Sicilian music friend Salvatore Cerami also from Palermo if I am not mistaken ?
Cheers Dani

Alfstone, Have to mention first... Great voice, great performance! Well controlled, sung with a Celtic soul (done by a Sicilian ) Quite a message as well! You tell the story, I hope you can publish this one way or another... This story should be heard! Mix, balance, clarity top notch! Fred

Cheers Dani *** No, no, Dani, the vocals are not by me, they are by James Higgins... I don't know Salvatore Cerami...I've googled a little...is he a guitar player who owns a Duan Eddy Gretsch? Alfredo

All the elements come together nicely - writing, singing, mix. But... have you considered sneaking a little fiddle in there somewhere? I love James' accent! Thanks for posting!

That's a cool song.
Well done and the singer's accent fits perfectly.
I loved the sound of the guitars in there at the 1:29 point.... full sounding chords.
