Charlie - this is a brilliant piece of writing. It's powerful, it's exciting and it makes you want to play it over and over. The tune is just simple enough to stay with you after the track has finished and you find yourself singing it hours afterwards. This is one to copy and play in the car on the freeway.

Tom - I can see why you wanted to sing this one. Who wouldn't love to have a go at that song? And I must say, you did it justice. The vocal had the power that the song deserved, together with clever dynamics and lots of expression. Guitar was tasty too!

Super piece of collaboration, Guys.

ROG.

ROG, That melody hooked me too. Not too much extra stuff going on, just enough for good old American Rock. Tom

Wow, ROG, I am completely humbled and flattered by your more than kind comment. I have such respect for your body of work I'm familiar with here on the forum. I hope you enjoy playing this song your car and don't forget to play it LOUD...

Very nice work gents....This is well done.

I immediately got a Tom Petty vibe from this that remained throughout.

Clever idea for the song. I recall back when I was a kid, there were a few songs done in this sort of manner, using parts from other songs to create a new one,,,,, but not as serious music, more along the line of comedy music.

I was immediately impressed with the sound you got from the drums..... I do not think I have EVER heard anyone get the quality sound you got going here, out of the real band drums. Until I went back to look at the track list, I was thinking this was a third party drum synth.... it was "that good".

Vocals fit well, the guitar sounded good, a bit sharp, but it works for rock and roll.....

Nice work all the way around.....

Great stuff Tommy and a very interesting story behind it!

Enjoyed the song a lot. That's also the kind of guitar sound I often aim for.
Loved the fat drums too smile

Happy New Year!

A stunning rock mix. The drums are a standout - superb fills - that one after the first chorus...nice! Each instrument stands on it's own and holds together as a "well oiled" band...

Tom - your best rock vocal (so far...looking foward to what happens in 2015).

Tasty guitar. The lead is both "familiar" and original - the perfect blend...

The chorus sounds like the Heartbreakers stepped off the Refugee album (one of my all time favorites) to help out... Loved that!

Great one, guys!

floyd

floyd, You certainly honed in on the vibe we were going for. Charlie actually said " I've written a Tom Petty type song". Thanks for all of your support in 2014. We both appreciate it! Tom

As I said to floyd, we were going for the Tom Petty thing and you certainly picked up on it. Thanks for your comments about the drums. You gotta get them right for a rock song. And thanks for your ongoing support of my songs. I hold your opinion in high regard and I always look forward to what you have to say. Tom

It's already been said, but there's no harm in repeating: awesome track.

The vocal initially made the think of Warren Zevon (in a good way), but the harmonies on the chorus sold me on that Tom Petty sound, without being derivative. Great all around.

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
