Hi Everyone.

I've been introduced to PG Music software by ROG who I go to for lessons and this is the first song I've written with it. It's all recorded in Realband using Realdrums, but the rest is played in live. It's mixed and mastered in Powertracks with a little help from ROG.

BAD REPUTATION
She's got the eyes of an angel got the smile of a saint
She's got a face like a picture that's too beautiful to paint.
She's got perfect locks of long brown hair and when
She walks by, you've just got to stop and stare.

He wasn't handsome but he'd got all the moves
He had all the girls looking and he knew what to do
He had a look that would capture their souls
He had infinite power and total control
She walked over with her bedroom eyes
He said "hold on baby I won't tell you no lies
I've got a bad reputation".

They weren't faking there was too much at stake
They never thought that they could make a mistake
They didn't think, they didn't care
They never thought they might be going nowhere
He wasn't worried, about getting caught
She wasn't worried, she didn't give a thought about his
Bad reputation.

She walked in with a gun in her hand, she said
Hey girl stay away from my man
I had suspicions now there ain't no doubt
She raised her hand and a shot rang out.

She dropped to the floor, she looked in his eyes
He said "Hold on baby didn't tell you no lies
I've got a bad reputation".

Thanks for listening.

Rob.

Well constructed.
Great lyrics.
Felt the chorus was a little dated (70's).
Overall this is grunty and a good write.
Rob.

The main riff was played on a strat, the solo's were done on a les paul, both going straight in with california sun and a touch of echo, and the bass was played on a j-bass straight in!

don't forget to wait until the first song scrolls off the first page... (common courtesy...) more than 20 people posting songs and only 20 spots on page 1

having said that...
I thought this was very good! Rog has quite the talented group of students!I'm not sure I'd use the word "dated" because music and genre and taste cover such a wide expanse of possibilities... but I will say that it's reminiscent of what I listened to in the 70s, and it probably could have been a hit if you were around to release it then.

My only objection to the lyrics (and this is an old man speaking)
I don't like songs that include lyrics about shooting people. I know its fiction, but as long as we keep glorifying it in song (and that's what music does best) there will continue to be people who copycat what's happening in the culture of the music they listen to.

</soap box>

But I really like the song!

Pat said it all.
Nice playing and mix.
Strat and a Les Paul,
hard to go wrong with those!

What a cool throwback - especially the "classic" chorus and guitar solos.

That was a fun listen! laugh

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Like that. A delightful mean streak running through it!
Great backing singers also. Cheers.

Rob (and ROG)...

Cool song. A good "rock write". A touch of Henley peeking through...

Good vocals. Terrific guitar work! Nicely recorded and mixed.
I thought the drums could be louder. I always think that smile

Very enjoyable listen. Catchy, too... it's still in my head.

Well done.

Yeah, well of course I was always going to like this one!

I love a beat that drives along and this one really rocks.

Not a half bad solo for a bass player, Rob!

Great vox and backing vocals too, for someone who has only just started singing. I know how hard you worked at it. What a good song for a first post. Looking forward to hearing your ideas for the follow-up.

ROG.
