Trapper if you watch people's channels who are actively promoting it's pretty easy to see what they're doing. Having the wherewithal to do what they do yourself is another thing. There's also info on YT's Creator Academy. And this has been a very interesting thread. Thanks to Joanne and everyone who responded so far.

I watch YT a lot but lately even with high speed internet I'm having issues when I try to watch anything. So I hope it gets fixed soon.

When I have time, I enjoy making videos regardless of views. It's fun so why not.

Youtube does have issues though, beyond streaming problems.

Bob and I lost ALL the videos on our duo channel which were ALL original songs. Our Christmas song alone had over 5000 views and that's not counting the views we had on the other songs. Not much in the scheme of YT but it was a lot to us. We still don't know what happened for sure. Poof one day they were gone no warning, no explanation, no nothing but our empty channel was still there. Maybe we were hacked we'll never know. We tried going through the complicated help maze, gave up in frustration, decided to just move on and close the channel.

Then a few months ago on my personal channel, I got hit with a content ID match from YT for using VIDEO from a film I did not create myself. So I tracked down the film's creator and got his written permission. Oddly, the "match" was not to his film which is on Youtube in it's entirety. No, it was a company using a similar clip also taken from his film and using it in a cover song who's date posted was long after mine. The matching film clip is only a few seconds out of my 3+ minute original song. I contested it and sent in my proof. An ad runs on my video now and I don't know who's behind that. I doubt it's the film maker. Not that I get enough hits to make any real money but it's the principle of the thing that really irks me. The content ID system needs to work better to weed out fraud.

My channel link is in my sig. grin Watch, like, subscribe, hey, I'll take anything. LOL!

One other thing I want to say about Youtube and videos is that I think the video a week thing is more for content videos than music. In music, on the one hand, I don't think anyone should go too long - however, I think major record labels don't release a new single every week on an artist for a reason. I could be wrong on someone just doing covers....hmmm....I don't know.

Thank you so much Trevor! Much appreciated.

Josie I understand your frustration about your channel getting deleted. YT seem to be a law unto themselves. If they make a decision it is very difficult to dispute it or even get some sort of answer from them! Been there done that!

I subscribed too. Someday, someone from here on the forum will have a break-out hit with their song and using BB tracks. It would not hurt my feelings if it were Josie. You can't set back and wait to get 'discovered', you have to work at it, learn the trade and promote yourself. Josie seems to be doing a good job, so I wish her success.

Here's something I just found on Time.

http://time.com/3732203/the-30-most-influential-people-on-the-internet/

This is amazing to me all the different ways people are getting their messages out and promoting themselves. The one that really surprises me is Jimmy Fallon. What a difference between him and Leno. 70% of Tonight Show views are online?? Wow.

People roughly 40 and under grew up with the internet. It's as natural to them as watching TV was to us. Us older folks know squat or very little about it. It's like when we used to joke in the 60's "Mom has no idea about Woodstock, she's too busy sitting on her couch watching Lawrence Welk and Price is Right."

Our parents had no clue and neither do we.

Even though I have cable, I rarely watch TV unless it's a local news broadcast. I also have my internet service through the same provider, Comcast. So I watch the TV programs I like the day after they're aired on the internet since it's much more convenient.

Comcast sucks as a provider because the internet horror stories you've read about are real, but at the time I moved here they were the only option for high speed internet. I've tried several times to cancel my cable and change my account so I only have internet service through them but they just place you on hold and then never come back on the line. Avoid them if you can.

If you can get a high speed internet provider and then couple it with a Netflix and HuluPlus account then you can 95% of what's on TV. A very small percentage of that can be found on YouTube, other than short clips of talk shows and Comedy Central.

To all of you who posted helpful information I thank you. I will look back at this information from time to time. Well, I am a very indecisive person about making up my mind a lot of times. I get very frustrated easily about things like YouTube because I don't understand a lot about them. I have some learning disabilities and at times it can be very challenging for me to grasp the simple concepts of what to do to get subscribers, views and so forth. Although, I have reconsidered my position on posting to YouTube. I am going to repost all my videos back up there just because it's free and a place to share my talent with whomever listens to it. If you would like to visit my channel here is a shameless plug. My channel is located here, keep coming back and I will be re-posting my videos for all of you to hear. Well, thanks for this advice, I will look at this from a whole different perspective. I am going to repost without a care then. I will remember this when I am looking at my YT videos just to pass the time.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
