This is one of my favorite songs to play, it's just a fun song. Overdubs are one rhythm guitar and two arpeggio guitars, plus a tamborine.

DAWN
Oct. 25, 2014

DGA All alone in a crowded room
DGA I was looking for a place to hide
DGA On my own in a cloud of gloom
DGA Feeling no love inside

DGA Then along came a girl with a look in her eye
DGA saying, follow me, I'm the one
DGA so I walked up beside her, looked deep inside her
DGA saw that something had begun

DBmGA (GA) Dawn, when are you coming around again?
DBmGA (GBm) Dawn, I wish that you'd come back again.
AF#mGA All of my life, I've been looking for a special friend
DGA DGA and Dawn , I want to see you again
DGA DGA
DGA My head was spinning, my legs were weak
DGA my composure came all undone
DGA I forgot to ask her where I could find her
DGA she left with the rising sun

DBmGA (GA) Dawn, when are you coming around again?
DBmGA (GBm) Dawn, I wish that you'd come back again.
AF#mGA All of my life, I've been looking for a special friend
DGA DGA and Dawn , I want to see you again
bridge
EmBmGA Sitting up in the morning, fresh with the dawn
DGA DG I looked around and you were gone
EmBmG It was only a picture drifting through my head
DGA a dream of love, it left me here instead,
D instead of leaving you

DBmGA (GA) Dawn, when are you coming around again?
DBmGA (GBm) Dawn, I wish that you'd come back again.
AF#mGA All of my life, I've been looking for a special friend
DGA DGA and Dawn , I want to see you again
DGA DGA and Dawn , I want to see you again

A touch of "I fought the law".
The melody is very original.
Good stuff Will.
Rob.

Thank you Rob. I must say I'm delighted with the mix, the vocal, the harmonies and the song. I was just out listening in the car, and played it six times back to back. Thanks to your encouragement, my harmonies are starting to become an important part of the mix.

Will, This one can get in your blood really quickly. I like the overall sound and the chord progression brings back some memories. I thought the 30 sec intro was a tad long. I do think you are starting to get the hang of this BIAB thing. I think you could benefit from some pitch correcting software. The ahhs are hard to listen to. Please take that criticism the right way. I think you've got some good songs and if there is something out there that can help you to get more listens, then you should look into it. That said the song is very infectious. Tom

Will,

Sounds like you had fun putting this song together. Made me smile. The harmonies add something, don't they.

Hey Will,

The metaphor "cloud of gloom" really stood out to me. It's a great expression.

I found the energy of your song contagious. As Tom says, "This one can get in your blood really quickly."

Because I'm not sure if you're seeking constructive criticisms, I'll hold back on any comments. You are definitely getting the hang of how to bring out the best in BIAB!

Regards,
Noel

Noel, I am definitely seeking constructive criticism, I even changed a lyric in another song after a suggestion. I've been working on harmonies due to other suggestions, and just bought an autotuner after a suggestion from Tom. So not only can I handle criticism, I demand it. The only way these songs will reach perfection is with your input.

Fun vintage sound Will. Nice choice of RT's. And you are really getting into those harmonies.

Just in case you aren't aware, for oo's and ah's the built in harmonizer that comes with RB/BIAB is easier than singing them all when you're not doing anything fancy. Or for making a big sound by combining with your live ones. There's a thread on how to use it in the Tips and Tricks forum - you'll have to go back a few pages to find it.

Enjoyed.

Josie

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
