Been wrestling with this for a couple of weeks. Think it's time to let go of it!
https://soundcloud.com/tuigorge/not-without-a-fight

It is the companion to this song posted earlier.
https://soundcloud.com/tuigorge/god-bless

Real Drums - Synth - Dance rock
- Techno beat
Bass - RT 2300 Buzz whole note
- RT 2299 Buzz 1/4 note
Fiddle - RT 409 George
Banjo - RT 589 Bluegrass

Completely done in RealBand.
Comments/Criticism/Ideas welcome. Cheers.

Not Without a Fight

He grew up mean in a timber town with the strong sweet smell of pine
Pollen in the puddles when the rain come down wild pork and Grandma's wine

He'd sing in the night to his fathers belt screaming till his face turned blue
Kill you when i'm bigger and I turn 16 if it's the last damn thing I do

Now they're after him the net is cast way wide Gonna catch him like a rabbit in a trap
No-body wants to die like that He won't be goin down without a fight
No he won't be goin down without a fight

The people went deaf and closed their eyes No-body helped to ease the pain
Blood on the floor and the devil on the loose Daddy won't be lashing out a-gain

Now they're after him the net is cast way wide Gonna catch him like a rabbit in a trap
No-body wants to die like that He won't be goin down without a fight
No he won't be goin down without a fight

The moon is high good people gonna die How did it ever come to that
He won't be goin down without a fight No he won't be goin down without a fight

Boy gone bush, world gone mad, sad moon sighin, fade to red, it's a damn shame, they should'a done something, anything, went wrong, guns in the dark, shots, blood in the water, the moon hides its face, don't look back, never live this down, he's a crack shot, pushed too far, walk on walk on, don't get involved, look the other way, mind your own business, it's not right, not our problem, it's a dark place, lost souls laughing, celestial confusion, stand up and be counted, that's enough, stop! at least try, there's always a price to pay, boy's gone bad, town gone mad, reap what you sow, cause and effect, action and reaction, at least try, at least try, Pow! Pow!

There are strong elements and emotions throughout this song. The elements and presentation are very powerful and the choice of instruments, lyrics and the wonderful blending and weaving in and out are mesmerizing. This is your best yet I think.

Rich that is pretty heavy stuff and sadly too often true. You did a great job on it. I especially liked the way you put the vocal behind the narrator - very cool and the arrangement suited it very well.

Good write - and an interesting arrangement as well.

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Hi Rich. I do hope its not about anybody you know. Very tough lyrics. Difficult to say "enjoyed" it but definitely "appreciated" it. Your poetry set to music is something else. Good job.

Richard,

You are one of the most inventive songwriter/producers here. Perhaps, THE most. Your songs are interesting lyrically and production-wise. This one more so that most.

Excellent lyric/story - well told.

Unique. A good listen, without question.

Thanks a lot Charlie. It's all somewhat therapeutic.
About strong emotions and feelings as a child. Cheers.

Thanks Josie. tried to make it a bit edgy and uncomfortable. Cheers.

Thanks David. Appreciate your listening and commenting. Cheers.

Thanks Rob. I have a weakness for the buzz bass. Cheers.

Glad you liked it Guenter. Trying for a bit of drama. Cheers.

Thanks Joanne. A mix of fact and fantasy. More about feelings than actual events.
Has been a liberating write though. Maybe all songs are therapy. Cheers.

Thank you Floyd. You are too kind. But I love your comments.
Am pleased you enjoyed this. It closes the door on a lot of childhood emotions. Cheers.

That is a fascinating mashup of RealTracks.
And with the killer mix they well, actually
incredibly well, support the lyric and your
vocal.

This is a strong and innovative song and
one that will stick with you.

Hi Rich,

A heavy story... but with an original combination of heavy synthesizer and then suddenly a very folky Banjo!
Yes, like Floyd said you are one of the more original writers here.

Definitely an enjoyable listen!

Rich,

What a mix of RTs!
The song is so off the wall and the build up just adds to that.
I really, really enjoyed the listen, your voice is perfect in this masterpiece!! Brilliant

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
