Hi all. Kevin suggested I post a song here. It's about a woman who has Alzheimers, who drifts in and out of remembering. The lyrics were mostly written by my friend Lisa Gundling. I tweaked them and added a couple of lines. I use BIAB mostly and edit in Sonar X1 Producer. Comments appreciated. https://soundcloud.com/vic-arnold/remember-in-colour Vic

Hi, Vic.
Welcome to the Showcase!
Good write. Terrific arrangement. The Brent nylon works really well for this - you weaved it in very nicely - sounded like someone actually playing along to the song.
A lyric would be nice to see (everyone here is a writer, so we like to read 'em...). It's also nice if you list the RTs that you have used - to give folks ideas about producing their own songs if they hear something they like...
Tell Lisa she should join us! She would be a delightful addition here, as well..
Enjoyed the song. Sung with feeling...

Remember in Colour © 2015 Gundling & Arnold
The photo's worn, a black and white She puts it to her wrinkled face She recognizes him right now On many nights that’s not the case She wants to press her lips to his For now this picture has to do She giggles at her lipstick mark Says, “you’re a mess now look at you” Pre In her mind she hears him say, "That's no price to pay, ‘cause" Chorus Your kiss always set me on fire It’s why I called you my live wire I know your memory fades to black and white But now…turn on the light… Remember in color tonight. Inst. Colors fade to black and white Red lipstick makes him look a clown Who is that silly looking man? She puts the photo of him down Wipes away the kiss's mark Now she's trying to forget Makes her way back to the dark But he won’t let her yet
Chorus Your kiss always set me on fire It’s why I called you my live wire I know your memory fades to black and white But now…turn on the light… Remember in color tonight. Inst.
Bridge It stings to hear him say these things She’d fly to him if she had wings Chorus Your kiss always set me on fire It’s why I called you my live wire I know your memory fades to black and white But now…turn on the light… Remember in color tonight".

Hi Vic. Good to see you here! Didn't realise you used BIAB. The vocals are nicely restrained and the lyrics are delightful. Cheers.

Hi Vic, welcome to BiaB. I think you'll like this community of writers, arrangers and producers. And you will hear some amazing use of BiaB. This is an excellent write and production in all aspects. Everything just sits right to support the vocal delivery. Janice and I are in a situation with both of our mothers which allows us to feel very close to your sentiments in this song. You might be interested that a collaborator and active member of this board wrote a song a few months back that was based on a similar theme. Who I Once Was Again welcome and thanks for bring both of ya'll's talents to this forum. I'm sure you'll be much appreciated! J&B

Vic, Welcome and I hope you've got a lot more where this came from. The subject matter hit close to home here and I'm sure many others will say the same. Really nice use of real tracks and the nylon guitar works especially well. Nice job on the mix and production and well done Lisa on the lyrics. I quite enjoyed the song. Tom

Vic,
A very nice sounding song to be about such a cruel disease. Excellent arrangement and production.
