Hello everyone. My name is Dan, and I am brand new to everything here: This forum, BIAB, DAW's, Audio Interfaces, you name it. I do play guitar, but I left that up to BIAB for this one.

Thanks to BIAB, I was able to "reverse the curse," of writer's block that spanned over 17 years.

The Perfect Life was written and arranged in BIAB less than 48 hours after I got the program. Then came learning some mixing basics (can you say countless Youtube Tutorials?). After this short time I can say BIAB was the spark that ignited a fire and I will be forever grateful to this concept.

Hope I did ok for my first post here and hope you enjoy...

https://soundcloud.com/user348216565/the-perfect-life

So many years ago when I was young
A lot like you my life had just begun
I chased the stars and I lived so free
Spent all my time by a silver sea

I married a beautiful woman
and we shared a love so true
our hearts were young and our songs were sung
under skies that were always blue

And now so many years were here then passed
The perfect life I built could never last
My bride, my love one day she slipped away
She's with the lord but it was my place to stay

If I had my life to live over
There isn't a thing I would change
And I pray some day that you will find your way
To live your life the same

So chase some stars and live so free
Marry the one you love and live by the sea
I'll spend my time in dreams of yesterday
And when my time is gone I'll just fade away

Welcome Dan! BIAB is great for getting those creative juices flowing again.

Great job! One of the best first posts I've heard on here. Beautifully done - love the melody, your voice, the harmonies and the arrangement. The mix sounds good too.

You're off to super start. Looking forward to hearing more.

Welcome Dan! I know what you mean about BIAB. I had 4 or 5 songs that I never could get a good demo of and saw no reason to continue writing what I couldn't record. Enter BIAB, and now I have written more (and I believe better songs) than ever before. What a relief! This song is very nicely done- pretty melody, nice harmonies and a sweet, melancholy lyric. Strings worked beautifully. Enjoyed it much!! Let the songs roll! Take care. Greg

Welcome,
A good 1st post

nice harmonies and just as I was settling in to the song it finished!!
Too me that is a sign of a good song when the listener wants more. So I played it again.

I look forward to more.
BIAB certainly gets the juices flowing, it is an amazing programme straight out of the box and with a bit of thought can do some off the wall stuff.

I look forward to more

Alyn

+1. Fantastic harmonies. My only nit is I would have shortened the intro by half. Good to have you here. Keep writing. Tom

Thanks everyone for giving this a listen, the nice welcome messages, and the feedback. I am truly humbled at this experience and am inspired to be here.

I finally got some time to listen to a number of submitted songs. To say the talent level here is anything but outstanding would be an understatement.

I have learned so much from just being here a few days. Thanks to all of you who make this forum such a wonderful place to hang out.

Time for me to go listen to more submissions...

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
