Dani!!!!

It's terrific to see you back online again for a little while. The forum is definitely not the same without you.

Thank you for taking the time to have a listen to "I Can See Tomorrow". I appreciate your very positive comments. To be honest, though, when I listen to floyd's work, I realise that I still have a long way to go when it comes to production. Still, I'm having fun learning and that's all that really matters! I'm hopeful that I'll eventually get there (wherever 'there' is!).

All the best,
Noel

P.S. I love the song you posted. It's an excellent write.

Noel, This is a truly inspiring song, the lyrics are brilliant, anyone who has experienced or is experiencing pain in their life would get great encouragement from listening to this song, and well that is what music is for to inspire and uplift us.

Your vocal on this is something else, brilliant all the way, it just comes across while listening that you gave it your all, I would think your best vocal to date.

Great production as well, from its first few seconds of playing I knew I was going to enjoy the listen. I think the arrangement is brilliant as well, everything works as it should.

Thanks for sharing this and all the helpful advice you give on the forums,

Take care

Hi Robert,

It's great to see you again.

About a week ago, I was thinking about you and wondering why we haven't seen you for while. I know what it's like when Life steps in and adds unexpected busyness. When you get a chance, though, it'll be terrific to hear one of your new songs!

Thanks for dropping in and having a listen.

All the best,
Noel

Hi musiclover,

Thank you for all the positive comments! They've made my day smile Brenda will also be delighted when she reads them. I can see a picture of her smiling enthusiastically in my mind as I'm typing this!

Personally, I like this song and that's the main reason that I revisited it. Until I listened to the older version of "Tomorrow", I wasn't aware of how my knowledge and understanding had grown in the last couple of years. It was great to make that discovery!

Once again, many thanks.
Noel

P.S. Regarding the BIAB forum, I like helping people out and I like passing on the bits of knowledge I've picked up over the years. (I've still got heaps to learn, though.) When I first started using the program, many forum members were there to help me when I had questions and got lost. Now it's my turn...

Since this is a remix, I'll just focus on being nit-picky.

'Cause you already know that this is a great song and performance, right? smile

Anyway, here come some (inconsequential) nits:

At 0:10 it sounds like someone is turning down the faders. It's just a touch too abrupt.

Bringing instruments in and out is very effective - adding strings at 0:30, for example. Although the strings sound nice, they also sound like MIDI string pad. Pete Whitfield has a nice tutorial on string writing that explains how you can add melodic interest to simple string pads.

The strings coming in and out felt abrupt to me, but I wouldn't put any weight on that.

The bass line at 2:35 is a nice walkdown, but it feels a bit off. With the prior syncopation, I'd have thought the bass player would have chosen eighth notes instead of quarters. (Or is that quavers instead of crotchets?)

Nice trill on the flute, by the way. And giving the flute the harmony is really effective.

Anyway, great job.

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Hi David,

I always smile when I see a post from you appear in my thread. The reason is because I know that you are going to cause me to look at things a little differently and to weigh aspects of my arrangement with alternative insights. I appreciate this.

Jim Fogle also felt that the fades I used to lead into the verses are too sudden. I have this in mind to review in a month or two when the song and its arrangement has largely been moved into the 'forgotten' region of my memory.

Also, thanks for the information on the strings. I really appreciate the Youtube clip.

All the best,
Noel

P.S. It must nearly be time for another song from you. It's been a while!

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
