Here is the 3rd installment on my quest to achieve 50 songs in 90 days, there was a challenge to title a song with a verb. I took a Band in a Box style and added a couple of instruments to it, marked by +.

Bass=366
Fiddle=2030
Drums RD=Nashville Ev8^5HiHt,Ride
Guitar 1=405 Rhythm
Guitar 2=522 Finger style
Harmonica+=615
Mandolin+=2035

Here is the link to song #3 Skippin'

Also as I promised I will not flood the site with all of my 50 on individual links; so here is the link to all of the songs completed so far and from now on I will answer this post and just add the current song, I will appreciate any comments and suggestions; I do take them all into account, sometimes due to time constraints; I can't correct them until after the 5090.

Very interesting track! Reminded me of the old days with LPs. Music is really cool, and this is certainly an interesting take. I listened to your Guitar Chaos and very much enjoyed that. It would be great music for a video game. Keep us posted as you continue your challenge!! Take care. Greg

Here is my 4th song for the 5090. I took the first lines of the old classic "Amazing Grace" and wrote new lyrics.

I Will Give Honor To My King

All of the instruments are Band in a Box. I took the rhythm guitar into Real Band and regenerated some of the "ego manic" strums. Even our computers have ego's LOL.

The Instruments are
Bass= 1827
Rythm Guitar= 1828
Electric Gtr= 1831
Real Drums = Pop Modern Groove sync 16^5 H54,H24
Synth Pad = 1842

All feedback is welcome; I am still trying to get the reverb right.

Here are the links to songs 1-3

Here is Link to song #3 Skippin'

Here is Link to Song #2 Daddie Going Home

Here is the link to songs 5 & 6 of the 5090 challenge. Both of these are played on my Yamaha piano into Reason and then different instrument sounds added. The first song is a comedy; it takes a look at all of the cliche's used in horror movies.

It's called Run and Don't Look Back, I used film effects for the background.

Here is link to song #5 Run and Don't Look Back

Here is song #6 called Rest 4 through 1 are at the bottom.

I like all of your songs you've posted so far. I've gotten through 6. We are getting the full 360 degrees from your 50/90 submissions this year. It's quite a challenge but you have been up to the task so far.

Hi, Robert.

I just picked one of your songs at random for a quick listen.

"Daddies Going Home(Be A Brave Little Soldier)" is a pretty tune. I quite enjoyed it.

Thanks for the music,
Dan

Hi, Robert,

Of the new ones, I picked "Give Me Rest" (instrumentals are not really "my thing")...

Excellent write!

A couple of "production suggestions" - it is already very good - so these aren't necessary - but this is so good, I think it is worth coming back to later...

For this type song, it's nice to have a BIG sustained guitar chord hitting on the chorus. Make a 2nd SGU that is all HELD chords (in the spots where it seems appropriate) and find a guitar that his those hard - the Brent Rock soloist works great for this - and add those to your chorus.

Also, I thought you might let the band come back in on the 2nd half of that last chorus - let it "rock out"...

Nice work.

Here is song number 13. There is a writers tool on the 5090 website called LyriCloud; it gives a bunch of Random words to help with some ideas. I sat down Saturday with the idea of taking 1 word then regenerating the page until I had a completed a song using the words; however when I brought up the LyriCloud the first time I saw the 2 words Bored and Happened. I put the 2 together and taking inspiration from a couple of episodes of Everybody Loves Raymond, 1. He says he is bored with his kids. 2. He tells his brother he sometimes just says things to his wife just to fill the space. Here are the Real tracks I used; I also added a Harmony voice section using Reason. I just did held notes during the ending chorus. This song has 2 different time signatures needed so I used the bar # feature to make parts of the song 2 beats others 4. It really worked well with the style I used. *****Also note, song 8 Give Me Rest, I put a different compressor setting on it; and so the vocal sets better than the first version, where words kept ducking in and out, LOL!

427 Bass
431 Ac. Guitar
590 Banjo
428 Fiddle

Thanks Noel96, also floydjane; on Bored Happened I used your idea of making different versions in order to get instruments to play what I needed. The bass does held chords in parts; which is a rewrite of the orginal.

Thanks Janice & Bud and olemon for the feedback!

Up to 14 now. This one did not entail using BIAB: as I wrote it on my piano and recorded it into Cubase using the midi synth that comes with Cubase the Halion. I used a phaser on part of this one and then I set 2 delays 1 at 2X the tempo and a second 1 at 4X. I also deleted the Left side of the stereo file and then the right in a section. I also used fade in's and out's throughout to make it more interesting; as I am not very fluent on the piano. I was not happy with the Phaser section but I left it anyway; you can give me feedback on what you think. The phaser section will come in first; you will know it when you here it; the delay section comes in a little later; I was much more pleased with that section. Here is the link to it; feedback is welcomed

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
