As always, thanks for listening and I appreciate your comments, man that Brent Mason is bad-assed!

Macon Lights
© 2015 K Leverett

When I was a kid we played outside
All evening long and into the night
Going for broke doing it right
Under the Macon city lights
Where all my memories still live
Under the Macon lights

Later on dropped out of school
Got a full time job felt I was doing fine
Little apartment of my own
Putting money aside, bidding my time
1978 Z28, she had beautiful lines
Under the Macon lights

Now there’s a feeling I get
Knowing that some things will never be right
Rolling into town with the windows down
Into the Macon lights
It’s where all my memories still live
And I’d give all I’ve got to give
To be in your arms tonight
Under the Macon lights

At 23 I crashed that car
On a backwoods road, under the stars
Took em three hours just to cut me out
Even then I’m sure they had their doubts
1978 Z28, she had beautiful lines
Still think of her from time to time

Now there’s a feeling I get
Knowing that some things will never be right
Rolling into town with the windows down
Into the Macon lights
It’s where all my memories still live
And I’d give all I’ve got to give
To be in your arms tonight
Under the Macon lights

Hi Kenny,

I enjoyed the listen.

It sounds like you've put quite a bit of time into the creation of the song and the mix. When the introduction first started, the thought that popped into my head was that I really liked the mood that your chosen chords and mix of RTs created. Nicely done!

Regards,
Noel

Spectacular.

A terrific write. Interesting throughout.

The arrangement and production are really nice!

Your vocal is excellent - and nicely mixed.

I really like this.

Nice work!

I especially liked the vocals and the nylon string guitar work.

Thanks for the music,

Really sweet, pleasant song!! The melody just rolls along so nicely. Great arrangement, and heartfelt vocal. You have a gift for bringing truthfulness into the lyrics-even if the story isn't true, it FEELS true. Very nice stuff!! Take care. Greg

Nice one Kenny. To me, it has a very early (Philly/NAZZ era) Todd Rundgren vibe going on.

Everything about this is top shelf!

This has it all, great vocal, lyrics and backing tracks mixed to perfection.

Great song!

Let's see...what do we like here?

- the write
- the vocals
- the RT selection
- the arrangement
- the mix

Reckon that about covers it...other than
we are about 25 miles from Macon!

Great production and a nice addition to our
Soundcloud fav playlist.

Hi Kenny,

A nice song with a relaxed groove and vocal.
The Dreamy Brent RT is so cool and suits many styles, we've used it several times. We think it's the best soloist RT so far.

I wouldn't have guessed in a million years that there was any Todd in this one but I have to say a friend played me the Something/Anything records many years ago and I was hooked instantly, became a big Rundgren fan and follower, discovered Nazz (or is it The Nazz) and he's in my subconsious I guess, definitely a big influence. Thanks for the comments.

Wow, I hadn't noticed your location before, that's why I like you guys so much, we're fellow Southerners. I was born in Manchester, GA. went to school in Hamilton. I don't know if I ever even passed thru Macon, but I thought it's so relateable, like Memphis or NorLeans in a song. Deep south, Allman Brothers, pecan trees, fried chicken, southern girls, all that good stuff. We moved to Texas when I was about 14 and now I'm in PA so the accent has taken on many influences but I'm a Georgian life long Braves fan forever!
Thanks for the kind words.

Thanks Greg,
I work hard on my lyrics and always try to get better as I go along,
This means a lot to me, your kind words are very appreciated and make me wanna get right back to trying to top this one.

Nice song. I think this is an excellent write, performance and arrangement.

I can imagine many artists covering this song. No every song can stand strong with different arrangements and interpretations but I think this song could. That's a hard thing to accomplish and an indication to me of a very well written song. Great job.

I enjoyed my listen.
