Hi,

I am struggling with this and I could use some help. I have no ability to do the vocal on this. If anyone would like to sing this that would be ever so cool.

Here is an example of a few lines with guitar and vocal only and the the BIAB rough draft of the music with no vocals and no lead inst.

Hi Billy, this is a really nice song and there's nothing bad about your vocals.

I prefer the simple version much more than the BIAB version. The BIAB version sounds BIAB'y to me and loses the essence and emotion of your simple version. I think you can build a really nice song out of the simple version. You may find it easier to do it track by track in RealBand rather than using styles in BIAB. Your vocals sound more than adequate in your example.

Just my thoughts. I'd love to help you, but check my posts, you'll see that I can't sing......

I'm looking forward to how this progresses and turns out. Keep us updated.

Hi Charlie,

Sorry about the broken link and lack of correct information about the song. I posted this in the middle of the night and must have been asleep....lol

Ishann Kashyap, a friend of mine from LA did the vocal line on this as a test. I did not sing on this one.

I wrote this a long time ago and tried to sing it with my band but I could never make it work. I just can not sing this sort of song.

When I got BIAB I decided to try to record a backing track that perhaps could fit or be at least a starting place to develop this.

Originally this was to be a triplet based 8 bar country blues/R&B song, sort of in the style of " Please Send Me Someone to Love"

The vocalist could be male or female and the song could go more in an R&B direction or country/Pop Patsy Cline sort of style. This song is all about the vocal and need a good vocalist to work. Ishann is a good vocalist but this is just not his cup of tea.

Cheers,

Billy

Billy, I searched the stylepicker and there are two styles designed around the tune "Find me someone to love"

128_45.STY. 12/8 at T=45 - Slow 12/8 Jazz
_128_45.STY. 12/8 at T=45 - Slow 12/8 Jazz

Either should work more realistically to get the BIAB sound from the band than the Style _TBLZSLR.STY (TexasBluesRock12-8 Rhythm [60RS]) that you chose.

I suggest you complete your chord chart using a midi style because the regenerations are much faster and once you have your chord chart complete to your satisfaction, a search in stylepicker for "Georgia" (a similar 12/8 style to "Please send someone to love") and will give you some RealTracks that you can load and regenerate the song using RealTracks if you choose.

It appears you used 4/4 time signature in the songs you posted here on the forum. A switch to 6/8 or 12/8 should generate tracks that come closer to the style of " Please Send Me Someone to Love"

If you prefer to stay with the 4/4 time signature, "Desperado" styles would work in my opinion. In fact, I listened to "Desperado" Eagles original version which is a simple and sparse arrangement that I think would be a good template to use to arrange your simple track above.

Others will probably have better, more appropriate songs and arrangement suggestions.

Thanks Charlie,

Yes, the original idea was to do this in 12/8. And thank for the ideas about the process.I am sure I can get close to what I had in mind with BIAB.

I am not so much concerned at the moment about how to create the music. I can do that using BIAB Real Tracks and play the guitar solo and guitar fills live, also will most likely play the drums live.

The real issue is to find a vocalist who can sing this with a country/Blues or R&B/Blues vocal. I have listen to a few vocalist here who can this with ease.

When someone comes along who would like to give this a go I can rearrange the song to better fit that vocal.

Cheers,

Billy

Sorry for the link issue.

You guys do fabulous music. I like Upper Downtown Blues, If He Don't Come Back, and Burning.

I will listen to all your songs as I have the time. I really enjoy what you guys do.

The tune sounds really nice to me! I like the simple version but I see where you're going with the other arrangement and I think it would work very well. It sounds to me like you could do a fine job with the vocal. Give it a shot! Take care. Greg

Billy,

The "simple" (original) version is quite nice - both the vocal and the guitar...

Why not try adding some RTs to that...?

Hi Floyd,

I have something very specific in mind for the vocal style and one or two possible alternates.

The music can be roughed out in BIAB and some Real Tracks may very well work just fine.

I have been experimenting with some real tracks in another song today and many things are possible.

General experience so far has indicated, to me at least, that the piano Real Tracks are great. The guitar Real Tracks can be used if they are DI or not too over driven.

The Real Drums are less than stellar and the midi drums are more work to fix than starting from scratch.

The drum issue is not something indigenous to BIAB. Drums are always the most difficult thing to record no matter how they are produced. I will most likely do the drums live on a midi drum kit.

Thanks for taking the time to listen.

+1, I like the simpler version also and hopefully someone will volunteer to sing it for you. I wont be me as I sound like a frog that is croaking!

Also to get something in bold you have to put the words in between the brackets. like this doesn't work.

But bracketed B input your words here followed by /bracket does.

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.
Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.

Soundcloud didn't want to cooperate fully, but I too like the feel of the simple version. Perhaps the Blues Swing Style from BiaB is too much of a contrast. Would an Even style work better?

It's a good song. Stay with it.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
