The Last Time I Fall In Love

Dark and cloudy man it’s cold all across these empty days
I know just enough to know Every life has a little rain
The storm moved out when I saw you one quick look then I knew
i’d be lost in love again and have to find my way

This is gonna be what it was meant to be
looking at you all i see is what I’ve been dreaming of
i feel it in your touch I've been wanting you so much
This is gonna to be the last time that I fall in love

The harder we laugh The deeper we cry
I always try to hold it back but we both know I'm not that guy
Never thought I'd love again so imagine my surprise
Waking up next to you right there by my side

This is gonna be what it was meant to be
looking at you all i see is what I’ve been dreaming of
i feel it in your touch I've been wanting you so much
This is gonna to be the last time that I fall in love

Just a few of the lines I absolutely love in this song!! This is great!! Nice, easy, flowing beautiful, simple and singable melody, great heartfelt, sweet but not sappy lyrics, great vocal delivery and great supporting guitar work. Lately, you really remind me of John Hiatt Tom (another one of my favorites). Wonderful work, all the way around!! Take care. Greg

Tom,

What I like most about this one is the melody - especially the chorus - so, delightfully singable... All of the lyric falls on the ear well..

And a fine, strong vocal. (nice harmonies, too!)

I think we are all beginning to take your arrangement/production for granted. There is never a mis-step. But, man! the chorus on this explodes! The power chords mixed with that super-cool guitar walkdown - nice!
The piano sits nicely. It's kind of unfair what you can do with that steel... subtle...perfect...

A couple of listens and this is stuck in my head.

This sounds great Tom. And your best vocals so far in our opinion until now.
Speaking of which, we finally figured out which famous singer-songwriter your voice has been reminding us of (all the time).
Are you ready.... John Hiatt laugh .
But really!

Dang, we get here early and we still gotta get
redundant with the accolades. So we're gonna
say some of it again. Like mr jane mentioned
and Janice's says all the time your lyrics are
so singable. They stand on their own, they
have great rhymes, they tell stories -- all
the good write stuff -- but they just sing so
well. It's like a flowing mountain bike trail
you just point it in the right direction and let
the flow take you for the ride. You're immediately
hooked.

Greg grabbed our favorite line but there are plenty
more to like. This is another "wish we could do that"
mix and your steel and guitar are as usual a clinic
in how to support a vocal...speaking of which, man,
you laid down some strong vocals here.

You got it going Mr. Adams and we are enjoying
listening to it all.

Super.

One of your strongest yet. This one really comes together nicely on every level. I agree with others who've thought this is one of your best vocals.

This will truly be a favorite on my playlist.

Greg, Thanks for all the nice things you say about these songs. I haven't heard much Hiatt, but I will be checking him out now. Tom

floyd, This song started because I was regenerating that baritone guitar when that walk down occurred. I froze it and dragged two more tracks in to nudge forward to the appropriate choruses. Then I doubled them on my guitar. So it was Brent's doing. Don't ya just love that guy? Thanks for mentioning the prosody and the vocal. Tom

Listened to this yesterday, Tommy. It's fantastic. And like Dan said, when the chorus hits and those guitars kick in, wow!

The production is righteous from the first note to the fade-out. Love your vocals and they are 'exactly' where they should be. Radio ready.

You're going to get much praise for this one, because the song is one that people will relate to and the music is equally powerful.

Standing ovation:)

We just dropped by for another listen and Janice
commented that your voice and the arrangement
reminded her of Jeff Bridges in Crazy Heart. We
bought his album after seeing the movie and this
tune definitely has that feel...which is very good!
BTW, I forgot to mention the congas the first time
around. Nice touch.

That is a superb production. Us BIAB folks have really got to pay attention to just the dynamics here in this tune. You crank it up for the chorus and come back down for the verses. I can't tell how many BIAB songs (and non-biab songs) from us singer-songwriter folks (me included!) where there just isn't enough energy variation in a song.

Great playing and singing, too!

Tom, this is really one of your best! (And that's saying something.) Love your guitar and steel work, and your vocals are spot on on this one.

Glad I got to hear it!
