"Remember Me Whenever You" (instrumental)
2 of 7 - Tangled Roots Project

This is the second track of the Tangled Roots project. I've always loved the sound and expressiveness of the violin/fiddle in American music, so I tried to incorporate in this tune. It has a little more country/rock/folk influence, where the first one was jazz and latin-influenced.

Lead Guitar: 511: Guitar, Electric, Soloist Dire Ev 140 (Darin Favorite)
Rhythm Guitar: 543: Guitar, Electric, Rhythm Dreamy Ev 120 (Darin Favorite)
12 String Guitar: 1681: Guitar, 12-String Acoustic, Fingerpicking Ev 120 (Pat McGrath)
Organ: 674: Organ, B3, Background Blues Roadhouse Ev 120 (Chris Nole)
Violin: 1877: Fiddle, Soloist CountryRob Ev 120 (Rob Hajacos)
Cello: 2509: Cello, Background PopEven Ev 120 (Matt Nelson)
Horns: 2292: Horn Section, Rhythm Pop Ev 130 (Jim Clark)
Electric Bass: 684: Bass, Electric, PopHalfNotesSync Ev 120 (Tobin Frank)
Drums: FusionEv8TerryClarke (Terry Clarke)
Sampled Organ, Composition & Arrangement: MW Gilbert

Background of the Tangled Roots Project: I grew up listening to all kinds of American music, jazz, blues, rock, folk, bluegrass, R&B. When I started composing my own music, even though these many wonderful influences were shaping my compositions, I never worked directly in these idioms. Since my own music is a coming together of many tangled roots, I wanted to step outside my comfort zone and try to write pieces that went back to this rich pool of musical influences. Hello,

That's quite a pile of RTs smile
Very nice.
The entire sound of this, makes us think of The Dire Straits in their "On Every Street" period.
This will have something to do with the use of the Dire RT.

Good job.

Well put together, but a bit disorienting. Sort of a smooth jazz version of Ives, only instead of two marching bands colliding, it's like moving through the aisles of a large department store, where turn brings you to a different department playing a different song. smile

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Thanks dcuny - I like the Ives reference, although I would like to think that the turns are at least somewhat graceful. It took me a long time back when in school until I 'got' Ives, and that had me thinking about comparing what he did with, say, what Teo Matero did with Miles Davis.

Anyway, thanks for the listen and the feedback!

Thanks RnAM. I really like the Dire RealTracks playing, and one could be tempted to overuse it... It is amazing how that Knopfler style of playing runs so iconically through the DS body of songs.

I appreciate the listen and the feedback!

I really enjoyed listening to this one. I'd like to echo Davis's comments that there is definitely a classical music vein to this although I thought of Debussy for some reason. Anyway, very unique and nicely done. Cool project.

I like. Interesting arrangement.
Enjoyable listen.

This is a mix that is put together very nicely. An eccentric mixture of RT styles but remained easy on the ears.

Enjoyed my listen.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
