Done Hi all, my first song in my fourth year of retirement. I took part in the Ryan Skyy ft. Niki Darling Remix Contest The voice inspired me to choose a hard rock version. The multi riff feature in RealBand helped me a lot to work with Brent Mason’s great track. Here are the RTs used: RealDrums-RockHardLA^1-ClsdHt,HlfOpHt RT995_ Bass, Electric, HardRockLA Ev 120 RT996_ Guitar, Electric, Rhythm HardRockLACrisp RT999_ Guitar, Electric, Rhythm HardRockLAFuzzyA RT1720_Guitar, Electric, Soloist TexasBluesRockStraightBrent From the original I used vocals, piano and strings. I hope you enjoy. Guenter P.S. Very cool Guenter!! To be honest, I found it almost painful to listen to the original (Not a House guy) but you turned it into a sweet rocker. Love the solo guitar. You are the master of remix!! Take care. Greg

As always I love your remixes Guenter! As I listened to her POWERFUL vocal in the context of your production, I kept hearing Donna Summer... which makes me wonder what a disco remix of this song would sound like.
Going back now to see if any of the techno versions got anywhere close to classic disco...
It is VERY fascinating to me just how different a song can sound when interpreted by a bunch of different musicians
update: after listening to the original and a bunch of the contest submissions, my takeaway is that her voice just ROCKS in every single one of these highly varied accompaniment pieces! This gal is one seriously talented singer! I'm guessing that's why you selected her song ... you consistently pick projects that give you something very high-quality to work with!
I agree with Floyd that the competition is very good this time... I listened to a bunch of other entries, and ALL of them were very impressive and innovative (to my ears anyway) I happen to like EDM, so it isn't hard for me to enjoy the offerings made by the other contestants. I missed the disco version Floyd mentioned, so now I need to go back for another listen... (thanks Floyd!)
One of the things that impresses me about your submissions is that you always manage to stand out in the crowd with a composition that isn't like anyone else's! It's like your PIET song... where did that idea come from?? Its GREAT once somebody does it... but how does the first person get the idea??? ALL of your remixes have struck me that way: as a totally fresh take on an idea, followed up by a very well done production!
That's part of what amazes me. When someone copies, they have a pattern to go by. You , on the other hand, pursue new ideas, yet you get it right without having any precedent from which to draw reference.

Your posts are some of the most interesting we get to hear. Re-mixes allow us to listen to your version, the original as well as other contestants.
That's a lot for us to digest and enjoy. But we do.

Guenter,
I first listened to as much of the original as I could and my ears were more than pleasantly surprised/ relieved to hear your remix.
As I have said before you ARE a talented man and this shows of your remix skills again.
I thoroughly enjoyed your version.
Good Luck in the contest
Alyn

Guenter I really like this remix better than the original. The guitars add power and strength to truly bring out the emotion in the vocals. It makes me pay attention to what she is saying and I would not want to be the receiver of that message. Great job all around and I simply love the vocals. Sonny

Guenter, You are the remix master of this forum. What you do is so unique and very different than anything else that is posted here. It just goes to show what Biab can do in the hands of a very creative musician. This is another fabulous remix and sounds terrific. Tom

Guenter,
As usual, I listened to many of the submissions. Maybe 50? There were far too many to do all of them.
Your competition is better in this one. A lot of interesting remixes in many different styles. The vocal is incredible - and nice that it could be used in so many different ways
The standard EDM mixes get old really fast. The "throwback" disco remix (Music Kitchen Studio) was SO much better than the thumping dance tracks.
There were a few nice "acoustic" versions - most never "took off" the way they should have.
Several hard-rock things, too.
None better done than yours! The other rock versions were "guy rock". You were the only one (that I heard) that did "girl rock". Clever. Somewhere between Pat Benatar and Heart. Superbly done (of course). Perfect rock mix. You took the song to a different place - something that few others even came close to doing.
Here's hoping they recognize it - and you win another...

Great energy and mix! Especially the piano. It sits really well in with all those driving guitars.
Great work!

Guenter,
As always, your ability to work pre-existing audio and to use BIAB/RB to enhance it is outstanding. As far as I'm aware, there's no-one on the forum here has anywhere close to your ability in this area of music making. Your re-mixes are a highlight of Users Showcase.
Thoroughly enjoyed it!
Regards, Noel

I remain clueless as to how you can envision these projects. To move the same vocal from one genre to another and not just have it work but have it work this well has got to be a rare talent. You responded to Pat that "it just happens." Well, many of us would wait a LONG time for it to happen You've created a fine hard rocking arrangement and mix here. Everything seems to be "hittin' the note" and it sounds huge on my monitors. We love that Brent solo track. So...Rock on!! J&B

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
