Thanks to all who mentioned the vocal.... All the credit, of course, belongs to Rob and Ann-Marie. The tracks on this are so very well done. The melody is so very haunting - I have been waking every morning singing this in my head since I recorded the vocal - it won't leave me alone. Rob's original vocal was beautiful! Beautiful mix. Beautiful harmonies... I'm just happy that they finally convinced my girlfriend to be in a video floyd Two guys walking down the street. One says "Oh no here comes my wife and my girlfriend walking together right towards us." The other guy says " I was about to say the same thing!"

Herb says; " In a genre other than country, this song works well just as it is. "
Which is true. But if you go back far enough into the history of country and change the instrumentation just a bit, to a song of the classic Nashville sound of lush backing with strings, I can imagine Eddie Arnold, Jim Reaves or Ray Price choosing and recording this song.
+1

Charlie beat me to our thoughts. This particular period of country certainly existed -- for more examples listen to some of Patsy Cline's lush productions. So sans looking for a pigeon hole we'll say we found the collaboration to have been very successful and as Greg said it was fun hearing the "Roy" side of mr jane. And it was indeed to cool to see floyd's girlfriend. Well written, well sung, well produced (vid and audio) and, well, well "collabed!" Cool production y'all! J&B

Thank everyone for the very kind comments on this collaboration! Thanks to Herb's comment and Charlie's and J&B's responses to it I definitely do have some good insights in the structure of country music! This will come in handy since I'm going to host a country radio program on the local radio coming next year :-) I've always been wondering what makes country 'country'. It's clear that it's not just a matter of using pedal steel guitar at the right moments. Maybe not even that typical country feel in the vocals, it's definitely more than that. Although I have to say with Floyd's vocals it's getting a lot closer ;-) If anyone's interested, my initial vocal version can be found HERE Regards, Rob PS: I'm definitely looking out for new the 2016 BIAB version!

Videotrack, Guenter, Kemmrich, Alyn, Sergio, Mario, Greg, Peter and Ian... thanks for all your positive comments. Yes, the video is a bit sad , but actually... so is the song. I'm glad you all like the video. Of course it was difficult to find Floyd's girlfriend, but I finally succeeded Herb:Thanks for your explanation about the structure of a country song. We didn't know all that, of course we're no experts as far as country songs are concerned. But you're never too old to learn, so we'll keep it in mind for the next time! Janice and Bud, Charlie, Tommy and Herb: Fun to see you discuss the "country problem" with each other! Anne-Marie

Anne-Marie, Rob and floyd,
This is outstanding... a terrific collaboration. The first thought that occurred to me as I listened was that the clarity of this production sets an incredibly high bar. I don't how how it's possible to get such a fine sounding mix... really excellent.
All in all, professional from top to bottom... singing, writing, mixing, video... everything!
I thoroughly enjoyed the journey. Noel

Thank you Noel! Thanks for your kind comment. About the clarity, we always use the z3ta for mastering (only cost $90) We don't have the money for Ozone (Avanced $499) Rob

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
