One morning in the studio Daniel ask me what we would be working on and I handed him some lyrics. I said this is a song that I had and idea for and that it would be a fun song. He took a look at the lyrics and started laughing and I said see I told you it would be a fun song and Daniel replied I wasn’t laughing because it is a fun song but seriously the title is "I Became Elvis". I said yes, and that is who I want you will be this morning. It doesn’t have to be a perfect Elvis but just that it appears to be him. You only have to be Elvis on the chorus and be yourself on the verses. After a few times of me teaching him the first verse Daniel said lets do it (he is a very quick learner). We always record the verses first, the chorus second and then any background vocals if needed. After completing the verses, I sang the chorus for him and then we started recording and…well I guess you’ll just have to hear it for yourself.
I Became Elvis I know You want believe But something fell over me Then I became Elvis Standing Upon that stage I began to sing these songs With the voice of Elvis A well a bless my soul what’s a wrong with me I’m doing the jailhouse rock Don’t be cruel to my teddy bear And of course my hound dog It’s strange Yes I know But the spell came over me And I became Elvis Repeat chorusIt’s bright These Vegas lights But I’ll never give up these songs Cause I became Elvis Style - elvis1.sty elvis 1- 50’s rock shuf blues Drums - Country shuffle - Shawn Soucy Bass - 2287 - acoustic jazz swing ron walking - Ron Carter Guitar - 372 - acoustic strumming - Tony Piano - 1855 - acoustic country boogie - Jeff Taylor Guitar solo - 1710- electric western swing - Brent Mason HP AMD Athlon(tm)II B28 processor with 3.4 GHz 16GB ram - Mixcraft 6 DAW with Waves Diamond effects - 32" Westinghouse flat screen monitor - Focusrite Saffire Pro 14 interface - Studio Projects B1 mic - Sony HDR 7506 and Sennheiser HD 202 headphones - 2014 BIAB.

Sonny and Daniel...
HAHAHA! Y'all really nailed the sound. Nice instrument group and a very good mix.
The vocals on the verses are really in the pocket. The background vocals (again!) are stellar!
A fun listen, for sure...

S & D , I was completely hooked from the first measure. Super production. The guitar break is killer. The vocals are over the top. The mix is as good as it gets. Really outstanding work in every way. Tom

Hi Daniel & Sonny, The chorus really sounds like Elvis! It's a top notch musical production. Sonny: did you sing the verses too, or only the choruses? The description was not completely clear to us (Dutch as we are ) Rob and Anne-Marie

a real fun song. Very well done, from the lyrics to the arrangement and the vocals. I especially liked the background vocals. I enjoyed this very much.

Tom As I said above, Daniel was totally surprised that I ask him to try an Elvis impersonation but he rose to the challenge as he always does. He is game for just about anything. Thanks for the feedback, Sonny

The description was not completely clear to us (Dutch as we are ) Rob and Anne-Marie Actually Daniel, who is a good friend, did all of the vocals. Up to this point he has done all of my vocals. I do the arrangements and vocal stylings and of course the lyrics and instrumentation. I will let Daniel know that you guys liked his Elvis. Rob and Anne-Marie thanks for your kind comments, Sonny

Thanks Charlie, I am glad that you took time to listen and give me your assessment. I enjoyed getting into BIAB and coming up with a band to pull this one off. Usually I don't look for a particular artist (just styles of music) to imitate, but I had to do something in the way of Elvis. It was a challenge and turned out to be a lot of fun. Sonny

I might be the odd man out...and usually I am.... but I never really liked Elvis. Seriously.
Then for a time, I played in a band where the leader of the band, and singer, thought he was Elvis.... and did a fairly poor imitation.... complete with the jump suits and scarfs. I knew this and he assured me that he wasn't going to do an Elvis show any more.... first night on stage, about the 3rd song in.... he says... "gimme a G chord boys"... and whips into "Well its a one for the money, two for the show....." Wasn't on the set list and we hadn't worked it up in practice. Suddenly, a dozen EP songs were on the set list every night. (gag me) Then he comes up a few weeks later and says, "Hey, I booked a New Years Eve gig for some good money.... but they want the full EP show.... suit, scarves, hair....we gotta get you guys some tuxes " I quit the band soon thereafter because I said, hey, if we're gonna do that crap, we ought to do it right and work it up.... he disagreed and didn't feel we needed to rehearse any of it.... so I left before I was fitted for a tux.
But I digress.....
Your song is cool...as far as EP goes.

Hard for me to add to what's been said, but I agree with it all!! Very well done. Your son is an excellent singer, and he really "became Elvis" in those passages. Wonderfully done. You nailed it!! Take care. Greg

Your song is cool...as far as EP goes. Herb I truly understand...I do appreciate your honesty. There are a lot of top performers throughout the years I have little interest in myself. It would be hard for me to give a non-bias assessment of some artist that falls in that category but as far as the people on this forum I would look at their accomplishments as you did and avoid the well known artist. I enjoyed your story and I can see why there would be frustration...I have played in three different bands (many years ago) and what you went through would be the end for me also. Too bad you didn't wait and get the tux and then leave (just kidding). Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Sonny

Greg Hi Greg, Thanks for posting your comments...Daniel (he is a friend) and I really enjoyed recording this one and I sent him a text tonight about all the comments we have been getting from the songs that I have posted. He was very thrilled and a bit surprised by this song (he did not know how it would go over). Hopefully he can free up some time in the near future and we can do some more recording. Thanks again, Sonny

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
