Hi all. It's been a while since I managed to find time post a song, but I discovered this one sitting on my computer from a while back, just waiting for a mix. It's so old that the backing vocals were still done by Ellie and Jessie and they've been at university for over a year now. Not quite sure what genre this fits into, so judge for yourselves. There's an effect which I haven't used for years, but I thought it might be appropriate for my vocal on this track. It uses a vocoder, but using white noise instead of a synth as the carrier, with the voice as the modulator. I've kept it fairly subtle and it sounds a bit like stereo phasing. Hey, there's actually some RTs in there for a change - RT 494: Trumpet Jazz Ballad RealDrums: Hip-Hop Anyway, here it is. SWEET DREAMSEvery time I see your face I find myself Floating in outer space And every time I hear your voice I'm drawn in It seems like I don't have no choice I get sweet dreams floating round my head. Some say, "Is it right To waste your time Dreaming both day and night?" But I think that it's so good It's just fine That it works out the way it should I get sweet dreams floating round my head. As usual, many thanks to everyone who has the time to listen. Cheers, ROG.

Very, very cool ROG!!! Heard a little Petty, little Floyd, and a trumpet part I never would have thought of trying which worked perfectly. Love the trashy drum vibe you got. Really great all the way around!! Take care. Greg

Rock. That covers a wide area musically.
Cool tune. The vocal FX works. Not in your face, just a touch.
Loved the breakdown to the trumpet.
Nice guitar playing.
I couldn't help thinking of Annie Lennox as I listened.

ROG,
That might be my favorite of yours!
Good opening guitars. The vocal effect works really well! The girls BGVs are perfect.
Love that snare sound! The subtle synth stabs are nice! Cool trumpet...
Gorgeous guitar lead!
The mix is a real stand-out!
REALLY enjoyed this!!!

Sounds like something Ian Hunter might be singing from back in the Mott the Hoople days (ha, ha). Sounds like a good old gem that you mixed up just right. Are the girls still doing music?
Good one. Nice trumpet part and lead work!

ROG, You've done it again. This is a killer track. I never thought the trumpet would work but it does. Good thinking outside the box on that call. Great vocals both lead and bg. Super guitar playing. The mix is outstanding with the bass occupying a great spot sonically. Rock on Professor!!! Tom

Hi ROG,
Well, we really dig this vocal effect! Backing vocals are great too. The song has got a very nice drive to it. We also like that subtle chorus guitar. The 494 RT is a good choice for the solo, especially followed by that great guitar solo!

My oldest son snarkily said it was the worst Eurythmics cover he's ever heard. I enjoyed the song, and loved the guitar solo.

Good song. Nice guitar work.
Don't let that picture fool you. It's 25 years old. Just an old guitar player, mainly blues... (Wayne)

Great sounding track! As already said it has a great groove going on with the rhythm section. The trumpet is sweet and I love that guitar solo. Cool vocal effect too.

Good one Rog. A little spooky and slinky and the trumpet sounded pink floydish. Very good fun. Cheers.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
