Another little sketch. Thanks for listening. https://90dbband.bandcamp.com/track/californiaRegards, Bob California ©2015 Robert Randall Burke Well, I went to California Cause they said it never rained Nearly drowned down in Laguna When the mud slides came All the pretty people Scrambling for fame But nobody knows your name. Good song. And a lot of truth in those words.

"And all the saints and sinners Are gathered by the sea To hear the newest prophet Who looks a lot like me"
Wow!
There's a pile of truth packed in this tune. Without parsing the song out, suffice to say that we love it. It's right in our Americana wheelhouse vocally, lyrically and production wise.
Great vocal and a tight supporting arrangement and mix!

Well, Bob.
I've always been planning to visit California, but you're not exactly over-selling it with this song.
Still, it's got to be drier and warmer than England.
Loved the song, though.
Still singing from the heart and still producing the goods. Very professional from start to finish.
Cheers,
Prof.

I'll echo the others. "Very professional." "Great vocal and a tight supporting arrangement and mix." "Americana " "Awesome tune Bob."
All are true. Being from the deep south, I was a bit befuddled by the chorus in relation to all the verses taking place in -- 'California' -- While "Some day soon I'll be comin' home." I think it is above my pay grade....
California California Some day soon I'll be comin' home.
Regardless of my understanding or lack thereof, the chorus sounded good with the song and I thoroughly enjoyed my listen.

Wow, you're on a roll lately Bob!! Really nice song. Cool lyrics and a melody that carries them so sweetly. Really like the way you lingered on "California" in the B-section. Having lived in California my whole life, I have a different view than most visitors. There are some incredibly beautiful things here (Tahoe, Yosemite, San Francisco, the north coast, the wine country) but there are huge crowds, high crime, a lot of hot, flat ugly terrain, a LOT of poverty, and a government that doesn't work. Still, when I hear "California" in a song, I default to the romantic notion. Your take was about a whole different aspect of California, and you pulled it off beautifully. Great work!! Take care. Greg

Prof. Hey Professor - Thanks for the listen. It might seem like I'm running the place down, but it's really just a reminiscence from a long time ago, and my lack of success there. It's still my favorite State, and if you do visit, you will fall in love with it too. Regards, Bob

Charlie, Thanks for listening. It is not above your pay grade. That tense is confusing - I could have done it better. Regards, Bob

Greg Hey Greg, Thanks for listening. Actually, I was not a 'visitor' - I lived in SoCal for 15 years, and miss it still, even though I haven't been there in 30 years. Part of me still longs to return, but I want to remember it as it was in 1970. It was a paradise back then. Regards, Bob

Bob, I most definitely agree. You are on a roll! Love the melody in this one especially the second time you sing California. Some very nice choices were made there. I enjoyed the story and there are some lyrical gems in there. Very well done. Tom

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up. Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.

Pretty song. Sounds great. Bob, I'm a fan of the short chorus but I would've liked a tad more detail in this one to let me know who the singer is talking to. If he'd have said, "Girl, someday soon, I'll be coming home" I would immediately know that he's talking to his girl at home which is why he said I'll be "coming" home. If he's talking to himself and thinking about home or if he's talking to somebody else not from home, he'd have said, I'll be "going" home. Beyond that little bit of confusion in the chorus, I thought it was a great song and beautifully done!

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
