One In A Million Woman

Bit of Jazz/Bossa here – song for a hot summer night sitting in the back yard.
A MIDI/RT Production all done with PG Software.
- a basic BIAB style from 1996 in the days before RTs. The original style name escapes me.
Nylon Guitar is a Yamaha XG sound, as is the DX Legend electric piano and the fretless bass.
RealDrums are Bossa Rock 2 Brushes, Hi-Hat
The Sax is RT475 Alto Bossa.

I am open to any production comments or suggestions you might have.

One In A Million Woman
Copr Words & Music - Ian Fraser

Sits in the warmth of a summer’s night
Oh so sultry
Like Cleopatra floating down the Nile
Oh so sightly
You know you can trust her when she’s on her own
She’s that kind of a lady
A one in a million woman
One in a million woman
You thought you’d never find.

The nape of her neck is damp and cool
Oh slightly salty
Her dress is light and it clings to her
Oh nicely naughty
And her eyes say she’ll love any time at all
She’s that kind of a lady
A one in a million woman
One in a million woman
You thought you’d never find.
You thought you’d never find.

Most of her body’s been tanned by the sun
Oh brown as a berry
I know there’s white where that swim suit was
And it’s driving me crazy
And later on she’ll go home with me
‘Cause you know she’s my lady
A one in a million woman
A one in a million woman
You thought you’d never find
You thought you’d never find.

Enjoy - Ian

Hey Ian,

This is a cool song. I really like it. I think every woman wants to feel she's one in a million, sexy and treasured by her man. Great hook.

I think you sound really good on it and the production was right on for me. Like that sort of Sergio Mendez feel.

Terrific song and one of my personal favs of yours so far.

Tommy - Right you are.
Without PG Music I would have needed a trust fund to hire the studio and the session men.
Originally it was just me and the guitar until 1995 when I got BIAB and a Roland piano controller.
Glad you liked the song.

Hello Josie.
So nice to hear from you.
I must admit, I was wondering what reaction a woman might have to the song.
I'm honoured (Cdn) with your take on it.

Given the professional way you have with writing and production, your perspective on the tune
makes me feel good about the end mix. With my hearing loss, mixing can be an iffy
thing when it comes to instrument balance. On this song I credit MarioD's ears.
and his willingness to help with my "How's this?" e-mails.

The production levels on this forum keeps everyone trying harder - it's a great supportive group.

Cheers and thanks - Ian
