Hi There, I have a couple of suggestions to improve the operation of the mixer and to make it work more like the DAW programs that I use:
Firstly I would like to be able to solo more than one track at a time. I know that 'multiple solos' sounds like an oxymoron but it is the way that most DAW mixers work and it is an intuitive way to bring in additional tracks and see how they sound with the first solo'd track. I know that you can achieve this by manually muting all the tracks and then unmuting them individually but this is a more clunky way of achieving the same result.
Also currently when you turn soloing off on one track it automatically unmutes ALL the tracks - even those that were already muted before you pressed the solo button. I think of tracks that you manually press the mute button on as 'hard mutes', whereas tracks that are muted by BIAB as the result of you pressing the solo button on another track as 'soft' or 'inferred' mutes. I would like BIAB to distinguish between the two and only unmute the 'soft muted' tracks when the solo feature is removed.
I often have one or two tracks (e.g. lead solos or loops) that I am only going to bring in for certain bars of the song and until I get around to doing the edits to block them out for the other bars I like to keep them permanently muted. However because of the 'global unmute' behaviour when the solo is released they keep getting turned back on and I have to keep re-muting them.
These are two seemingly small changes that I think could really improve workflow and also make BIAB feel a bit more familiar for new users with experience of other DAW software.
Many thanks, Aubrey
If I hadn't seen such riches I could live with being poor.
'when the solo feature is removed, keep muted tracks muted'
+1, definitely
Yes keep the muted muted.
Solo More Than 1 track, if you can use the Ctrl+click to solo more tracks then use normal click on any soloed track will un-solo all, rather than having to find a place for the usual master Solo Button.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
