Like the other couple of songs before this one, "June 10" also came about from exercises that Pat Pattison made available at his seminar in Melbourne earlier this year. It's only the second blues song I've ever written. I'm still very much a novice in this genre. I thought I'd use AABA format and a traditional blues lyric approach in the A-sections.

Lyrics

June 10
©2015 Words and music by Noel Adams. All rights reserved.

June 10, you say the day is looking yellow and blue
June 10, you say the day is looking yellow and blue
But your eyes refuse to see sunshine 'cause your heart is hurt and confused

Why go, why grab her bags and up and fly away
Why go, why grab her bags and up and fly away
Like a thief she stole tomorrow and left you stranded in yesterday

She was a sunrise
A new sunny day
You were glad, excited
A pup ready to play
When she wrapped her arms around you and filled the world with light
There were no more lonely days
Not a single awful night but then she left you
Without a word
She left you

June 10, you say the day is looking yellow and blue
June 10, you say the day is looking yellow and blue
But your eyes refuse to see sunshine 'cause your heart is hurt and confused

[instrumental]

She was a sunrise
A new sunny day
You were glad, excited
A pup ready to play
When she wrapped her arms around you and filled the world with light
There were no more lonely days
Not a single awful night but then she left you
Without a word
She left you

June 10, you say the day is looking yellow and blue
June 10, you say the day is looking yellow and blue
But your eyes refuse to see sunshine 'cause your heart is hurt and confused
Your eyes refuse to see sunshine 'cause your heart is angry, hurt, embarrassed and bruised

Excellent job Noel!! This has a great vibe to it. I love the idea of a song title being a date. There are some really good lines and images in this, and your vocal/mix are outstanding. You may be one of the forum's great blues men. Really impressive! Take care. Greg

Hi Noel,

Although you're a novice in this genre, you've done a very good job.
It's very bluesy. Good lyrics and vocals.
We love the chorus!

Hey Greg,

Thanks from passing through. I appreciate the feedback and the vote of confidence! I'll never be in the same league as the great J&B nor Tom Adams but it was fun playing around with this. BIAB makes it all so very easy. I have to hand it to Pat Pattison, he's really taken me out of my comfort zone this year!

Regards,
Noel

Hi Noel,
I really like the rhythm guitar and the B3 comes across nicely. Very nice blues song and I enjoyed it a lot. Your writing and your vocals are excellent.

I call this jazz blues and I am a huge fan of jazz blues and I must say that you did it more than justice. Your instrumentation, vocals, lyrics and mix is spot on.

Excellent song!

HI Noel ...

We loved it! Jazzy Blues ... great genre. For the freshman effort, this sure sounds terrific! That walking 4/4 bass drives this puppy. Wow ... super! As always great mix and delivery. Cool!

Noel,

What a strange idea to have a date as a song title! and I must admit my ears were confused at the mention of blues and then the listen.

Interesting listen, more jazzy than blues IMHO

up to your normal high standards

and still humming the tune in my head

have a good Christmas down under

Hey noel. That is GREAT. One of the best of yours that I have heard (however I may have been missing out on some other gray stuff in my absence). You voice sounds so gentle and suits the mood of the song.

Noel, I like it a lot! The vocal is perfect for this easy slide along minor blues. The bass sounds superb. The B3 comes in nicely and the slide solo is well edited. That is one real track that I have found hard to get right but you nailed it. Your overall production chops are on full display here. Nice going. Tom

Whoa!!! Noel the blues man...and with a great twist
with the two structures.

Like floyd mentioned "June 10, you say the day is looking
yellow and blue" is a great line as is the title from that
line. And it's joined by many more cool lines.

You did a superb job with the RT's. And we definitely
pay attention to that stuff smile The slide couldn't be
any better -- it well complements the vocal.

And the vocal? "Novice" or not you have an instinctive
feel for the phrasing and the key is perfect.

We love musical surprises and this one was superb!

A tip of the fedora to you...
