It started once upon a time in the east as a BIAB thang, and after quite a bit of real stuff addings and moddings, pffffff, she's off in to the youtu blue:
What went on before it all turned into a song was a fascination with the functioning of snitches, stoolies, informants in our societies: Whatever you call or even think of them; they play an important role in resolving crime and the law can't do without them it seems. We need more Snowdons BTW too ...
My actual trigger and inspiration for this song was Hill Street Blues actually, starring Peter Jurasik as the main snitch, and later on in his career he got even more famous as some Ambassador of a Weird Planet (Babylon 5 TV series). The video is illustrated by the fantastic cartoon animators from the communistic era in Russia, a children TV series called NU PAGADI, where the big bad wolf likes one special rabbit a lot instead of some pigs. Thanks guys, may you ever get as famous as Walt Disney !
I grew up for trouble Crime behind the door Dimes were counting double Boy I sure was poor I love being hated Never toe the line When the con-man's baited G-man pays me fine
Ch: I'm the stoolie, signed yours truly Eagerly I spy, do you wonder why I'm the pigeon, bad religion, To crime I'll light a fuse, come and buy my news
Saw it on the telly G-men cleaned up vice Champagne in my belly I just got my slice Park my wheels on the corner Jaywalking 's all right I am the informer The law is on my side
Thnx, BTW had some questions about this one; There are no RT's etc involved here, only started a sketch in BIAB of the arrangement. Played this song written in the 80-ies, and only occasionally just with an acoustic guitar, and later with a bluegrass band. It never ended on CD's or LP's as others did alas. So much later i found it again and tried a sort of reggae version which seemed working, via a sketch done in BIAB. In this recording only the drummy and bassy stuff is samplefied MIDI stuff, and almost all programmed manually in Cubase, plus some added samples to enhance it all. Youtube need video so there you go. Saw, mandolin, guitar & all that is RealStuff, not BIAB, sorry. - F
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
