Hello

I would like to know if its possible to have a set of chords played for [chorus 1] and a different set of chords to be played on example [chorus 6]?

I then also want to have a different style for a particular chorus.

thanx

Not without some tricks.

Assuming that you intend for the chords for the first five choruses to be the same, you could write the chords used in the first chorus and set that to play 5 times (Number of Choruses in Song), then EDIT, Unfold (Convert to 1 Big Chorus) and add the (different) chords for the 6th chorus at the end. This assumes that the unfolded song does not exceed the 255 bar maximum. Or, without unfolding, you could treat the 6th chorus as a Tag.

Then, if you are using MIDI instruments, at any bar you can press F5 and change the style. If you are using Real Tracks, you will not be able to change the style within the BIAB song. You could, however, take the song into Real Band and do it there. Also, Real Band does not have the 255 bar limit, I'm told.

Some of the Real Tracks, especially the newest ones, have dramatic differences between the A and B substyles, such as going into double-time at B.

Your questions are pretty general; let us know if this answer is on the right track and we can give you whatever detail you need.

Hi Rally,
Matt is correct, the best way would be to unfold the chords. There isn't a feature that allows different chords for each chorus.
For example, if you have a 32 bar song with 5 choruses (160 bars after ou unfold)

BTW, after you unfold them to 1 big chorus, you could use the repeats feature to display it all as a single chorus (repeated 5 times). You'd o that by right clicking on the chordsheet, choosing repeats/endings, and making the selection to repeat 1-32 for 5 choruses. Then the song will display as a single chorus, but you can have custom chords, part markers, melody etc, for each chorus.

Have Fun!

That's no true, I have BIAB songs with only real-tracks and change of style!

Thanks, Sergino. I'll be happy to stand corrected. I wonder, though, why Peter Gannon did not correct me when he could easily have done so.

If a BIAB song has all Real Tracks, and we cannot (yet) have more than one Real Track for an instrument, how would changing the style make any difference in the sound? The Real Tracks are themselves determining the style.

Sergino, I got the file you sent. I don't have the pop style you used (I've only loaded the jazz styles), so I can't duplicate what you must be hearing. In the song you sent, there were substyles for A, B, C and D. Do you happen to have any jazz Real Track styles? If you use them (even if the feel is really odd sounding), and send the song again, I will be able to load it in full, and see your demo correctly. Thanks!

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
