Tom and Greg,

Fantastic! My very first thought was "How on earth does Tom manage to get such a full and vibrant production sound to his mixes? This is brilliant!" And then the song came along.... excellent writing and performing.

"Leave the northern nightmare for the southern sun" - what a great line. To appreciate how well it works, it's worthwhile giving it a southern hemisphere flavour. Down here, we'd say "Leave the southern nightmare for the northern sun".... when the alliteration is split up, the line looses a lot of ooomph (to my ears, anyway)!

Enjoyed it a lot.
Noel

Sensational lyrics. I really liked the chord structure around the chorus. This gave the song its own hook.

This collaboration has to be seen as a real winner.

Missed Greg's vocals, 'cause they're always good, but Tommy, you nailed it instead.

Nice guitar accents. As ROG said, the bridge dropout is super.

Good mix (of course).

Easy and smooth. Nice and slow...

Great song. Great production. lots of cool things going on with a great mix.

Reminds me of Jimmy Buffet type of feel. Or the Chris Isaak baja sessions.

Awesome !
Jeff, Thanks for the nice words. I decided if i won the lottery I'd disappear so far into Mexico that even Sean Penn couldn't find me. Tom

Like mr jane said...makes us want to
head for the border (it is still open
isn't it?)

It appears that Greg has brought out
the CA side of Tom. That Tom genre
jewel has a lot of facets for sure!

We both enjoyed this mashup of two
of our fav forum artists. Great write,
vocal, guitar and production. But with you two
how could we expect anything less?

Forum fun!

Love the review! The border isn't just open ,it's wide open. Nice use of the word facet. Yeah I may steal that. Thanks, Tom

I love this!

It's catchy, there's a oh-so-cool hook in that elegant chorus. I knew it was going to be good, coming from you two songsters.

And you know it's top-shelf when you just get lost in the song as I did. Way to go.

Take a bow, fellas!

I am late to the party but I am sure glad that I came! Everything that I wanted to say has been already said.

This is a super collaboration with a perfect mix, super vocals, great backing tracks, great lyrics all put together in a smooth, toe taping song.

Loved it!

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.

Meant to comment sooner and thank everyone for the nice feedback! When I first joined the forum, I remember being pretty blown away by Tommyad, the blues man. Over time, I realized he's not just a blues man. He can do it all (rock, country, folk) and do it all well. I personally love the character in his voice. I sent him a work in progress which he edited, restructured, cleaned up, and arranged it into a gem. He is an incredibly cool and talented guy, and I'm thrilled to have made it on to his website. Thanks Tom!! Take care. Greg

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
