Looks like we're a little late to the party......
But just in time to hear this song which has great vocals, a very steady rock groove and very nice lyrics!
Tom's contribution is valuable as always!
Happy birthday Bud, you sure don't look like 70 as far as we can tell.
Music must be keeping you young ;-)

One suggestion, if you want to do rock, study someone like the lead singer from Counting Crows. He really pushes his vocal to the limit during the verses -- and then cranks it up during the chorus (ha, ha). Janice is mighty close, but I think she can even dig deeper. Hmmm, easy for me to say.

Still an excellent performance, though. Good write and arrangement, too.

Thanks, glad you liked it. Well, for one rock outing a year I reckon this will have to do. Too old to study!

I appreciate the mention, but folks should know - I didn't do anything other than lend an ear at some point - I hardly remember doing that... smile

Some outstanding lyrical phrases in this - Noel mentioned several. Well executed throughout.

I like the band. I really don't see this as "outside" of what you do - seems smack in the middle of a wide range of styles that you cover! And I'd call it Americana myself - whadda I know? smile Nice mix (which goes without saying)

I like your singer! Where'd ya find her?

Good music, y'all.

Another classic strong delivery from you guys, together with really thought-provoking lyrics. You never fail to deliver something solid, this one is certainly no exception.

Top job - again.

Catchy, from the title to the outro.

I do think the drums are too hot, maybe just the snare and mainly in the verses. The guitars and the vocals are outstanding, naturally:)

Everything sounds good. One thing that stuck out to me was the snare. It sounds really nice but it's a bit too loud in the mix.

Negative folks are all over the place and it's easy to commiserate with them, but you can't afford to do that if you want to be happy and get things done. I don't like hanging with or having discussions with folks who are always going to the negative side of things. The sun is shining in my world.

Thanks Herb. Glad you liked it. Been listening a lot to three or four of our fav Americana artists and that's likely what influenced my mix of the hot snare. I couldn't agree more with your thoughts on negativity. Run run run run

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Bud!

I really enjoyed listening to Janice sing this. The change of style took me by surprise.... but it was a good surprise. As always, Tom's contribution is like co-icing on the cake.

I also found myself thinking, "What a great use of connotation!" and "What a great use of metaphor!" on a number of occasions. Phrases such as "foes of happiness", "stained by anger", "sprout up around my soul", "garden of shame", "poison my peace" are so very visual and add a huge emotional punch. The rhyming of Happiness with Bitterness is also a masterstroke -- minor stress rhyme and using words that have opposite meanings.... very effective!

Really excellent work from everyone!

Regards
Noel

Thanks Noel. It was fun experimenting a bit but keeping it all in the Americana tent. I sincerely appreciate you mentioning the lyric. I'm not a prolific writer and having you take time to quote from my write is very gratifying. Of course sans Janice's melody and vocal this would never have seen the light of day. Thank you very much!

Thanks you two -- very glad you liked it. Not looking 70? Thanks as the photo is current....if anything is keeping me younger it's our love of mountain biking, kayaking and hiking -- some of which we do every day. Most of our friends are 25 or more years younger than me and they keep us "in the game" trying to keep up. Thanks again,

Your ears are golden grin

Thanks for the nice comments and for mentioning the lyric. Where did I find the singer? I was recording some tracks the other evening and she walked in -- said she was driving by and saw a light on.....

Janice's voice is always beautiful and this laid-back rock song shows it off well.

We appreciate you listening and commenting. Yep, Tom did his usual fine work on this one. We listen extensively to several Americana artists and like John Mellencamp, for example, they tend to feature a hot snare. So that's my excuse

Thank you Alyn. That means a lot since this style of song isn't something I attempt very often. We appreciate you!

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
