Because I spend so much time studying the tones and riffs of Jazz Great Oliver Gannon (isn't BIAB notation wonderful) I thought I would post this tune called Hanging with Oliver.

https://soundcloud.com/david-snyder-gigs/hanging-with-oliver

As most of you know, Canadian Jazz Guitar Great Oliver Gannon and his brother Dr. Peter Gannon (without whom we would be staring at a lonely blank screen) worked on the very original BIAB concept so they would have something to practice and jam along with, both being jazz musicians. And the rest is history as they say.

Ok then! Let's get jamming!

The basic tracks I used as a bed are below. Oliver's tracks in RB are great for their purity, simplicity and tone, and can become the cornerstone of a great, simple production. He is using no effects as far as I can tell on his electric track (left), so I am using none on mine (right).

Style: Original
RealTracks in style: ~~902:Bass, Electric, SmoothCool Sw16 075
RealTracks in style: ~~904:Piano, Electric, Rhythm SmoothCool Sw16 075
RealTracks in style: ~~~922:Guitar, Electric, Rhythm BossaFreeComp Ev 085
RealDrums in style: SmoothJazzCoolSw16^1-a:Sidestick, HiHat , b:Snare, Ride

What a great concept.

The arrangement is really great, the feel is sensational.

You've really put together a top presentation.

Hi David,

great idea! I would have expected some lead of
Oliver, too.
Enjoyed it.

David, Nicely done. I think the lead guitar needs a significant volume boost. The bed feels very comfortable. Tom

Thanks Guenter. I should do another one and do exactly that. For this experiment I was going for his comping skills. But you have given me the idea for number two.

Thanks!

David I was having a problem getting your song to play at Soundcloud but I went to another browser. Cool song and I like what you did with the whole production. I would have preferred to hear the guitar more in the middle and as Tom said with a little more volume. Good job overall.

Hey Sonny,

Have not uploaded to Reverb yet. I keep those two separate. I just tried soundcloud and it worked fine, try it again and let me know how it goes.

Thanks!!

This is a super guitar song. Great work on that lead! Your chops are top notch for sure! Your backing tracks fit perfectly.

I really liked this.

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.
Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.

Thanks Mario! I really dug your last ambient tune! That stuff is film score ready man. A lot of people don't know how hard it is to get that ambient stuff right. You really know what you're doing!!!

Very cool jam David. And a cool way to showcase
the power of BiaB. We enjoyed the spin. And, we
agree with others, crank that lead up 2-3db!

Nice

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
