I just upgraded to 2016, and I pulled up one of my song files as a test, and the fonts now are so small they cannot be seen on my laptop. (Desktop is showing the same problem, but since I use the 17" laptop for performing, these fonts are totally unreadable from more than 6-8" from the screen...)
I have a screen-capture .JPG file, but there doesn't seem to be any way to attach it here.
NOTE: I found the "Chord Display"/"Choose font for Chord Display" button, and the default was set to: "BigBand" which is too small for the human-eye to read... I set it to: "PG Text" which was a little bit of an improvement, but it's still about half the size of what it has been in previous versions of BiaB.

PS: Is there a way to get the old "StylePicker" window back?
I tried setting to several different PG fonts, and the biggest they will go is 36pt. I also tried Arial, not much help. If I used the "Ctrl+T (Fullscreen Chordsheet View) they are approximately what they used to be, but then the Start/Stop controls are gone, and that's unusable.
It would be nice if there was a way to disable all of the stuff that takes up 40% of the screen that you don't need when you're performing.
Thanks for the suggestions, but they don't really solve my problem....
Have you tried disabling the "Auto adjust rows" under Display Options?
As you can see from my settings below, I have this disabled (#2) and I have the maximum number of rows set to 9 (#3). This gives me a good view of the chord sheet.
Noel, thank you so much for this tip! Although I have installed and updated BiaB 2016 I haven't had time to really get into it yet. I did notice the smaller chord chart and this tip saved me a lot of time trying to find the answer!
Thanx again.
Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up. Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.
64 bit Win 10 Pro, the latest BiaB/RB, Roland Octa-Capture audio interface, a ton of software/hardware
I had to drop down to 4 rows so my old eyes could read the chart.
Good luck!
Later,
Danny,
If you use CTRL+T to maximise the chordsheet, you could probably run at 6 rows. I've found that full screen display and the floating mixer (CTRL+SHIFT+M) are a very functional combination to work with (once number of bars, key, tempo, etc., have been set).

Do you know if the display settings will presist through an patch upgrade (for example from build 430 to build 431) if the patch does not involve display settings or will the settings revert back to default?
I checked the help file but it did not say. I did see where the display scheme can be saved and recalled by loading a *.csc file.
To be honest, I'm not sure. As far as I recall, I don't remember having to re-adjust the settings after a patch all that often. That being said, though, there might have been a couple of patches that did affect the display settings (especially when changes were made in the Display Options window). If that occurred, I would have just accepted it and simply reset my information without thinking about it (hence my inability to recall clearly!).
What I do as a safety precaution (regarding settings) is...
1. Open the window that has the settings I wish to save, use the snipping tool to clip the window's image, paste the image into a Word document. I save the documents in \bb\settings_noel. I've regularly done this for Audio and Midi setup over the years. Now I'll also do it for Display Options.
2. Under the Options menu, there's a "Save Preferences" selection. I keep updating my saved preferences with reverse dates so that they file from most recent backwards.
For example: the preference I just saved was 2016-01-20 backup.bbw and this sits on top of my last preference which was 2015-12-12.bbw
There have been a few times over the years when I've simply reloaded a preference backup file.
I’ve had the same problem as LadyJazzer, with the tiny fonts and lyrics. Seems like I noticed it first right after upgrading to the latest build. Thanks for all the suggestions. I’d never be able to figure that out. I’ll give them a try, as well. Surely can’t make it any worse than the present situation. For live gigging with BIAB, use of the computer live makes me nervous. But, I’ve used it that way often. Wouldn’t know what to do with computer failure. I’m thinking about leaving the computer at home and playing with wav or mp3 files generated from BIAB. Using playlists. From what I’ve fiddled with, it sounds pretty good that way.
Thank you so MUCH!! That solved the problem! The "Max Rows" setting was grayed-out until I unchecked that box, then I was able to set it as you suggested, and it looks good now.
Thanks Noel. I was not aware of the FullScreen mode (Control+T). The navigation panel takes up quite a bit of real estate in BIAB 2016, but this will definitely help when entering chords.

Thanks Noel, but only having 4 rows on the screen does not bother me. With that said with the new (easier way) to enter lyrics I may end up doing just what you are advising.
PS: Now if I can only wave a magic wand and enter lyrics for 1500 or so songs, LOL
Later my friend,

A little off topic, but for those of you with old eyes, (mentoined above) like me, have you thought about investing in a widescreen TV as a monitor? I realise that not all situations wuld be right for this, but if your studio has space, a cheap Hd TV is fantastic for this. I recently bought one for £250 UK and its 49 inches - solves font size problems. Once you use one going back to a laptop seems like using a periscope

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
Update your Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows® Today!
Update your Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows for free with build 1111!
With this update, there's more control when saving images from the Print Preview window, we've added defaults to the MultiPicker for sorting and font size, updated printing options, updated RealTracks and other content, and addressed user-reported issues with the StylePicker, MIDI Soloists, key signature changes, and more!
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
