I have windows 2016 UltraPlusPak on two pcs and have installed build 431 on both
Everything works and sounds fine, except that I do now have an odd number of instrument patches that have appeared in some songs I made with 2015
For instance I use style _SLOWBAL for a lot of my ballad backing tracks which is all real tracks with Piano, Bass and Drums real tracks--at least it says it is, and it certainly was in 2015
When I load the song everything looks OK but when I hit play I get three more instrument showing across the top and in channels of the mixer
They are called No_patch1, No_patch2 and in the soloist it shows charang some times
They are all in yellow
It happens on both PC's
Its not on all the songs but neither is it random--i.e. it always happens on the same songs on both PC's
Neither is it all ballads
I only ever use real tracks in all my songs
I have a screen shot but cant work out how to post it here
on that STYLE with THAT demo song I get same thing if you load he FIRST demo song.
There are TWO demo songs (click the "load demo song" button you'll see two)
Load the second song and a different, actually a full song this time with sax solo, but still have one "no patch" MIDI instrument
my opinion: no biggy just an oversight "loose end" in releasing that demo song (or more simply just a PG "oops")

I'm not too bothered about the odd patches as I can disable them--I really just wanted to check that it wasn't something on my machines that was causing it
Out of interest do you guys get similar extra patches like Piano 2 and 3 and also Guitar and Strings on these styles
BOS2SWG.STY
BOSSAP.STY
Shows what sort of music I play tenor too !!!
I'm assuming there will be quite a few as I certainly haven't checked all the Real Styles
The odd thing is that this didn't happen on 2015 which is where I made the backing tracks--I assume PG changed something in the way styles are produced in 2016
I looked at _SLOWBAL in the StyleMaker, and it appears that while there are no instruments assigned to those two tracks, that is only for the "A" substyle. If you look at the patches assigned for the "B" substyle, you'll see that Trumpet and Sax are assigned.
I reset those two tracks to "<No change>", saved the file (with a different name), reloaded the style, and it no longer shows as "No patch change".
I suspect the underlying style had the patches removed for the "A" substyle, but they forgot to check if it was different for the "B" substyle. Remember that RealStyles use an underlying MIDI style as the basis, so whatever was there before can sometimes creep in.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
