Chord chart worked out in BIAB, then Chords exported to EZKeys for Piano Midi via Jazz Steinway.
Drums compliments of EZDrummer 2 (...if you only listen to the final 10 seconds you will hear a high hat sizzle which is my favorite part of the whole tune.)
Bass - BIAB Real Track
Guitar - Me, myself and I through the Firehawk FX.

I need to do a few dozen more of these instrumentals before I really try to put lyrics to an original tune. Bear with me, it will take a year or two more. grin

Never Ever Never

Dan,

I really like that clean sound of your guitar. Nice melodic playing - super melody, well played. Really enjoyed listening to that...

The piano seems a bit busy under your playing - seems competing instead of supporting. It's nice at the start and for its solo, but during the guitar playing it would be nice if it would "step back" a bit (simpler playing - or a "held chord" style..).

That guitar melody is sweet.

Looking forward to more... a year or two before lyrics?... okay, I'll try to be here for that..

Wow. You've laid down the 'jazz' in Jazzmandan. Superb effort here. Looking forward to more.

Dan

Really great material. Top stuff in fact.

I thoroughly enjoyed from start to finish. Very melodic and a great sound from the guitar.

And yes, that hi-hat sizzle finishes the tune off perfectly.

Thanks folks, I appreciate the kind words and encouragement. FJ - good suggestions, I will see what can be done about taming the EZKeys piano player.

...a year or two - It will fly by. grin

Nice mellow tune for this sleeting Sunday morning.

Yeah, loved that cymbal crescendo there at the end. The guitar sounded good, nice clean tone as FJ mentioned.... but I also found the high end to be almost to harsh and brittle sounding for a jazz tone. Most jazz tones have a nice rounded, clean tone... bright in the mids but with subdued, mellow highs and not overly heavy lows.

I hope, when you threw the Firehawk FX, you didn't break it.

Regarding getting started writing lyrics.... it's kinda like trying to get ready to have children..... if you wait until you "think" you're ready, you will never be ready... so just jump in and start writing. The sooner you start, the quicker you can get to the goal you have set for yourself.
cool tune.

GH, even after all these years, each time I step up to record it is a grand experiment and one of discovery. Still searching for the right tone. Stumbled onto the Firehawk FX Ambiant Delays preset, increased the gain a bit - and I liked it a bunch. Not really looking for a jazz tone here - but more bite and drive. But I do hear what you are pointing out - I need to work on the tone of each and every individual note played (that is one of those discovery things crazy ).

Also having some intonation issues with my Samick Royale so I pulled the Stat back into the lineup for this tune. I need to make an appointment with my Guitar Tech.

By the way, so glad that folks are finding the ".... cymbal crescendo there at the end enjoyable". You will likely hear this again in future offerings. grin

Yup.... not something you hear all the time and when it's done right in the proper place... it's very tasty.

I started into recording digitally by experimenting with lots of midi based stuff. I recall one time when I did in fact use a cymbal crescendo in a song... I was also considering buying "Storm Drums" for a time but never did. http://www.soundsonline.com/SD3

For those who like the ending cymbal swell and have EZD, that loop comes from the free download from Groove Monkey. Everyone who has EZD should get the free Groove Monkey sounds.

Loved the guitar work and the EZDrummer sounds. I've been thinking about that software for a while. I may need to cut loose on it at some point.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
