last year there was some talk of having a BIAB forum/convention in Victoria BC.

this was put off due to time constraints. is there any talk of it happening this year? or in the near future?

i'd love to take part.

rbsoulman:

I was wondering the same thing. I haven't heard anything here on the Forum. Perhaps if you contact them through the Support page they may have an answer for you.

Please let us know if you find out any info.
Good luck!

Send a PM to Pat Marr. If anyone outside of PG Music would have kept up with this idea, it's Pat.

Matt,

You are one gentleman that I'd love to meet in person and thank for the inspiration you leave in your wake. Unfortunately, I'm kept on a short leash making my attendance at a meetup impossible. I will be there in spirit, to be sure.

I've been watching this thread wondering whether or not to comment.

On one hand, I'd love to meet everybody on the forum and at PGMusic. It's fun to imagine doing it, and even more fun to discuss it. When it comes to making concrete plans, though, its hard to get the number of commitments that would justify the hassle and expense of nailing it all down. (I wonder what that magic number might be? )

My philosophy is to keep life simple, Don't make anything more complicated than it has to be. Whereas it's relatively easy to find a way for any two people to meet, the more people you add to the equation, the more contingencies have to be met... until finally, every possible date and location have been ruled out for one or another reason.

I'll probably continue trying to meet people in person any time I travel... and if a group meeting ever gets arranged and a date and place are declared, I'll probably try to go. But I have to admit that I'll be a bit surprised if it ever happens.

Frankly, I think it's still a great idea. If I was in the northern hemisphere, and especially Canada or the States, I'd be there in a flash.

What's important:

- PG Music announces event well ahead (say 12 months)
- PG Music prepares an agenda and location. The agenda just has to incorporate:
- what will be delivered at the workshops,
- social events,
- discussion groups,
- meet your neighbor, meet the PGM team,
- reminiscent discussions on how this started, where and how we got to now, where the future might take us
- demos and in-depth discussions on advanced features (presumably most attendees will be accomplished users)

PG Music arranges venue and has a sensible pre-paid charge to attend (maybe offering a discount on next years upgrade if you attend)

PG Users pay the (modest) charge and commit to the workshop.

Everyone has a great time.

(PS: Maybe I actually don't care if you do it too quickly, Canada's definitely on my guaranteed "to-do" list)

Hi all.
thanks for the feedback on the 'convention' idea.

i still like the idea a lot. i would definitely put aside the time to go.

i grant you i am a lot closer than most other folks. a 2 day drive through specatcular landscape, or a 3 hour flight. (the drive is more fun)

how about it PG folks? any movement on this idea?

stay warm and dry.

or.. we could hold the meeting where Don already is. Kinda like what Danny Campo and JoAnne did last summer, only with more people.

Wow, Pat! You wonderful people would actually do that?!?!?!

I would absolutely LOVE to meet more PG Music friends!

Danny has already schmoozed the manager-ess of the local Best Western who will provide free lodging in exchange for entertainment. It's a new and fabulous hotel.

That would really make a weekend of it.

Danny (and simple logic) wants entertainers spread over the entire year for the sake of we old fahts to have something to look forward to.

Sure, all you have to do is to supply the beer grin

Hello Steve,

So far we don't have any updates on a convention happening this year. There was enough interest to justify a gathering so we may plan one again this year but currently our efforts are being focused on other concerns. Any news will of course be posted on the forums so check back for updates and feel free to have some discussion, if there's more interest among customers then it's more likely to happen.

Thank you,
Kallum

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
