Ok, here is something funny.

I got David Abowd (a "newbie" and author of Maybelline") back into Band in a Box four months ago or so and he has turned into a madman. Writing 10 songs a day. Also turns out he is an engineer and won't even let me mix my own stuff anymore. He grabbed my new tune "Our Beautiful World" and said "Hey, let me mix that. Give it to me."

Hear:

So, there it is. One guitar, one bass, one kit, one vocal track. Dang David. You sure do have some mixin' skills my brotha. I guess it is a community after all! You show the love and you get the love!!

wow.... we got us some talent in the Raleigh chapter...

Nice mix.

I like the stripped down back to basics sound of this.

Thanks GuitarHacker.

I thought it was going to be easier to mix than it turned out. Would it sound better If I used David Snyder's Audiofile version of the program on his computer? I wonder how much better the uncompressed wave files sound? I'm thinking about upgrading.

Go Raleigh NC

I'll ask you the same question I asked GuitarHacker. How much better would it sound using Audiofile version.

Next time maybe we can do an AB comparison.

David,

I think you WERE using audiophile tracks since I sent you the SEQ file with the audiophile tracks in them. I THINK the files would remain the same unless you regenerated them, and the matching BIAB style we created (identical to my user created style) tricked the program into not seeing an error. I THINK I am right here but maybe not, it will be interesting to find out.

Regardless, that is never a problem, because I can always render all tracks as an individual files to a folder and them zip them up and you can just import each .wav into RB. At that point, a track is a track is a track.

If David sent you the tracks, it was audiophile.

Great sound. I'm all about "perfection is not when there's nothing
left to add but rather when there is nothing left to take away."

Stripped down productions that work are what I strive for.

Enjoyed it!

Thanks!!! David Abowd really brought out the magic in this one I have to say. Great engineers can make a huge difference. These kinds of songs are hard to pull off. The 24 track things are easy, but 4 tracks doesn't leave much to hide behind. Or 3...

Cool song!! A fusion of the 2 Davids. I like the simple, easy to relate to lyric. I really like the sparse arrangement and the way you sang it to. Very pleasant and enjoyable!! Take care. Greg
