My first time posting here. Sorry if I break any rules.

Here's the video where I demo the song. My cousin will eventually provide the vocal (much better singer than me).

https://youtu.be/wTGWB9nn8mk

Everything is Band-In-A-Box except for the guitar I play in the video. I exported the instruments as waves and recorded from Adobe Audition 2015.

Here are the Lyrics:

A Place In Your Heart - Copyright 1991, Tony Lee Glenn

There’s not much more I can say --You know I want you to stay
I know you need to - be free to live your own life girl
But you’ll see it’s hard to find, a love that’s true in this old world---So

Try to keep a place in your heart
Just a corner for me
A place where you’ll hold memories
Of us the way we used to be - Oh,
Will you keep a place in your heart
That’s all I ask you to do,
And if you want to come back I’ll keep
All my heart for you.

I guess there’s no use to plead.
Your instincts tell you this is what you need
I won’t stand in your way—I know you need your space to grow
And I knew this day would come—when I first held you years ago—but,

Will you keep a place in your heart
Just a corner for me
A place where you’ll hold memories
Of us the way we used to be - Oh,
Say you’ll find a place in your heart
That’s all I ask you to do,
And if you want to come back I’ll keep
All-----my--heart----for you.

I’m gonna miss you darlin---When you walk away
But I’ll be better able, to let you go if you’ll just say------

That you’ll keep a place in your heart
That’s all I ask you to do,
And if you want to come back I’ll keep
All----my heart--------

Say you’ll keep a place in your heart
Just a corner will do,
And if you want to come back I’ll keep
All----my----heart----for you.

Hey Tony, welcome to the forum.

This is cool! No breaking of rules here, but we generally share with other the style we used or Real Tracks so we can learn from one another.

That is the general format. Thanks!! Great song.

Hey Tony welcome to the PGMusic User Showcase forum! And congratulations on making your first post right away! It only took me 10 years to make mine!

I really like this composition! In specific I find the chord progression to be really enjoyable, and the recurring riff which gives it a hook (I'm guessing you played that?) LOVED that! Even if you didn't play it, you had the musical sensibility to purposefully position it in the mix, and I think it sits VERY WELL right where you placed it!

I also really like the video you included so we could get an insiders view of how you create your songs! That's cool! I kinda wish more people would do that!
Where are you located, if I may ask? (I like to kinda keep a running map in my brain of where the BIAB forum members live)

Hey Pat - I really appreciate your input. I'm from the mountains of western North Carolina. I work my day job in Asheville, but live more east of there in a small town called Valdese. I've used Band-In-A-Box for over 20 years, but have just now learned to use the real tracks to make some decent backing tracks for my songs. I've written over 300 songs that I've just had on the shelf for many years. I'm going to try to stop trying to be a perfectionist and just get them out there - and BIAB is a great tool for me to make that happen. I'm going to post some other tunes soon. Where are you located. I'll be checking out some of your music. Thanks again for the comments. Tony

Great entry to the forum Tony. Like Pat mention that recurring
riff really draws you in. The audio production sounded good
on our monitors and the vid looked good also.

Hope you stick around, post more and check out some of
what folks are doing with BiaB. This community is literally all
over the map musically.

We both enjoyed your song!

Welcome to the Forum Lee, I'm glad to know there are so many NC BIAB users. I have some very fond memories of Valdese. I lived in Gaston county during college and played in a dance band, met some very nice people from Rutherford College. Still know my way to your small town from Gastonia. Head up 321 to I-40 West.

I know exactly where Valdese is! And I had a sneakin' suspicion you might be in North Carolina! I'm in Winston Salem! In fact we have a number of forum members in general and showcase contributors in specific who live in NC!

Small world! By the way, now that you're here, you are never allowed to leave. (Think of it as HOTEL CAROLINA) <--(there's a song there for somebody)

Thanks so much for the welcome Trygve. I should have joined this forum so many years ago. You're right about the advances in BIAB. It's now so good and easy to learn that it would be crazy not to use in for fast song demos. I hope to get better and better with it through this forum - and also to get good feedback from songwriters and composers. I appreciate your comment, and will be checking out your music.

Welcome to the Showcase, Tony....

A very pleasant song. Good "sing-able" melody - particularly the chorus.
The tracks work well and nice that you are adding in your own guitar work.

(Sometimes the audio quality on YouTube is not the best, but it sounds like there is a drum fill at 1:12 that sort of "misses")

Nice to see a split-screen performance video...

Me too for the guitar. Welcome to the forum. Like Pat, I'm also very familiar with your location. Had a cabin in Bat Cave in the past.

Enjoyed your song and I'm looking forward to hearing more from you soon.

Some great writing here!! The song is well structured, and the story is well told with a great honesty. The hook line really pays off well. I wouldn't call you a singer, but you know how to write! I personally always enjoy hearing writers sing their own stuff. Great job!! Take care. Greg
