I thought I'd give this new set my arranging treatment, with the help of BBox own song as 'template' for the test, and I have to say I'm quite pleased with the result. I give you: Astaire The "formalities": Harmony: Generic Octaves
Style is _CROONR3.STY
RealTracks in style: 2126:Bass, Acoustic, Jazz Half,Half Sw 110 RealTracks in song: 2641:Piano, Acoustic, Rhythm FolkySwing Sw 110 RealTracks in style: 938:Guitar, Acoustic, Rhythm JazzFreddie Sw 110 RealTracks in style: 2593:Horn Section, Background CroonerBigBand9-Part Sw 110 RealDrums: RealDrums in Style: JazzSwingDannySticks

I decided to do a better mixed version, which replaces the the built-in sound source of the melody (because I couldn't get its reverb to export properly) with a richer, more natural blend of flute & piccolo from a much higher quality source. I replaced the link with the new one, so from here on it directs you only to the improved version.

You really captured the feel. Janice and I both very much enjoy the big band era. This has that "classy Ellington" feel to it.
"It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing!"
Can't remember who said that but it rings true.
Cool listen for both of us.

very nice composition! It has a real melody and an excellent chord progression that perfectly fits the genre!
But.. since you used the word "crooner"... that implies singing! Now we've got to convince you to add your voice next time!

Can't remember who said that but it rings true. Now I just had to get all nerdy and looked it up! From Wiki: "Ellington credited the saying as a "credo" of his former trumpeter, Bubber Miley.", so there you have it

... since you used the word "crooner"... that implies singing! Well, the real reason I used it is because that's the name of the RT set I was showcasing. I have to admit I'm only just looking up the meaning of that word

Well done Icelander! I hear a Neil Hefti ("Girl Talk", "The Odd Couple") influence in there as well - which is a good thing!

Nice!!! Really takes you back!! Back to well before my time, even, thanks But thanks to my grandfather, I got lots of "schooling" in the Crosby & Sinatra era of music, to which I am eternally grateful
