Peter - nice guitar work on this.

I couldn't shake the feeling that Janice Joplin might have been doing something like this today. I know, that might sound weird...(but, Mrs. Merritt has been compare to so many other greats - this is no stretch)

Unique.

Cool.

A fan.

Thanks mr jane -- we appreciate it and are really happy that you think the boundary stretching worked.
We don't think it's weird at all to consider that Janis J might be doing things like this now days. She was already
mellowing out a good bit on her last album...wish we knew how it would have played out -- and with Jimi also.

Thanks again,

Glad you liked it and thanks for mentioning the cajon. Most all of us were crazy about cassettes at one time or another...no problem bringing that up! That's why I used those cassette images.

Thanks for listening and commenting!!

speaking of the cajon.. this year at Merlefest I noticed that a LOT of the bands were using them! More than last year! Janice is on the cutting edge of a new trend!

Thanks! We're happy you like the "reggablues!"

The realtrack bass isn't bad but it lacks the Sly & Robbie synch.
The song is cool given its origins and certainly slipped into reggae well enough.
Cool stuff.

Thanks. This is our third attempt to meld reggae with another genre. We did a reggae some with bluegrass instrumentation several years ago and a couple of years we did one with one of the Blues Rock RT's. Because the Reggae rhythm is sparse (which I like) it is easy to introduces varied elements. Glad this attempt worked for you. I felt like Janice's phrasing and Peter's guitar really nailed it.

Thanks for listening and commenting! There's a great new Janis Joplin documentary currently airing on PBS. Well worth watching.

Glad you liked the song.

Nice things can happen when you add live instruments to the mix. Experiments sometimes yield good results, and you got that job done in this song.

Thumbs up

Thanks! Glad the experiment worked for you. Until Peter came in I had my doubts but he nailed the funky vibe. Cool that you liked the cassette references. There's a generation now that would not get it smile

Janice's vocals and percussions are spot on. Like many others, i'm going back again and again. Rewind me again, back for another listen. Enjoyed this one a lot. One of your best in my opinion.

We much appreciate that Charlie. This went through many permutations and I'm glad it ended up somewhere that has some appeal to folks. I've listened to reggae on the side off and on for years but have never thought much about the nuances in it. Rhythm wise it's interesting and different but as you alluded to it has become somewhat cliched. I think Peter's guitar broke it out of that mold. Thanks again. We appreciate your support!

Thanks for the kind words - I just added some colour to what was already a great song and performance. A most enjoyable experience.

This is a great blend of genres. Blues guitar always woks really well with Reggae. Just ask Clapton. The blues player Donald Kinsey from the Chicago band The Kinsey Brothers played for a while with Bob M and the Wailers. Great job with the wah Peter. Janice shows off another skill with some perfectly placed rhythm and Bud continues his high standards of writing and producing. A great listen. Hats off to all three. Tom

Great to see you back! Thank you for the nice comments. We appreciate it and Janice was particularly excited that you noted and liked her percussion. That should help to encourage her to try it again!

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
